Read moreThe entire staff at the Courtyard Houston was FANTASTIC. My stay was an unplanned due to flight cancellations on not 1, but 2 days. I didn't get every person's name, but know that EVERY contact point with Courtyard personnel was outstanding. Friday night Steven was at the front desk - he was helpful with check-in; helpful with info on the shuttle and making sure I could get picked up at the rental car return; helpful with recommending a restaurant that delivered to the hotel. He was informative, friendly and should be commended for going above and beyond. Asia (hope I have the spelling correct) picked me up Friday night in the shuttle at the rental return and brought me to the hotel. That man needs to bottle his enthusiasm and positivity and sell it. I'm sure many times he is the 1st point of contact of people with the hotel, and what a positive first impression that is. Keep it up sir! Fitness Center had a lot of high-end equipment-surprisingly nice for a hotel-machines were as good as my health club. Saturday AM I checked out and wanted a quick cup of coffee to take with me. The associate behind the counter was making a fresh breakfast salad for another guest, but acknowledged that she would be right with me. It took her just a couple of minutes, not long at all, and then she delivered it to the table of the other guest. She came back behind the counter and poured a cup of coffee for me and wouldn't take payment for it because I had to wait. That was a very kind gesture of her, especially when my wait was not long at all. Later on Saturday when it was becoming apparent that I was going to be stranded in Houston another night, I called the hotel directly and spoke with Gabriel (hope have the name correct) at the front desk, and he assured me that I would have a room available if I needed it. I did need a room, but at least the room was clean and comfortable, and I was greeted with courteous staff again, including the person at the restaurant who made a special order for my dinner, and another associate who suggested a local IPA that was very good. It was a crazy and hassle-filled couple of days trying to get out of the airport, the the entire staff at the Courtyard made it as comfortable and easy as possible. I truly appreciate the attention to customer service, but just as important the general friendliness. Kudos to...
Read moreMy flight was canceled and I booked my hotel on my cell phone. I was in a city that I do not know at all so being able to check in a hotel with limited human interaction (COVID) was important to me. I was able to utilize the mobile key with no problem. The room felt like home and I was so happy to have a place to lay my head. I went and got some food from the restaurant downstairs, wasn’t really greeted or asked if I could be helped. I then asked if they were open, because hey you’re just looking at me. While waiting I ask the front desk clerk if she happen to have a phone charger. She blessed me with one and I literally could have cried because my phone almost died. A woman out alone with a dying phone, 1000+ miles from home is just no good. I expressed how thankful I was the charger. Waited for my food and the front desk clerk asked me to answer the phone in case someone call because she have to use the bathroom. Odd request but okay sure whatever. She took forever to come out the bathroom because frankly I didn’t really want to answer the phone. Not my job. Noticed an officer walking in with a slight wave. I waved back. I was on the phone with my husband, meanwhile noticing the officer and front desk clerk talking amongst each other. Food came out and I get my food, pull up the mobile key to my room only to be stopped by this officer to ask me my name. I didn’t provide the name that he was listening for. I understand people are doing their job but it was insulting and embarrassing. I knew exactly what it was but I was too tired to say something. I already had to settle to missing my kids first day of school and then to be profiled depleted me. If it wasn’t for the experience I would have purposely traveled to Houston to vacation with my family and stay at this hotel in particular. One point, I had on a mask and I was the only person that had on a mask and I know y’all are in Texas but there IS COVID out there. This really put a sour taste in my mouth and honestly hurt...
