I booked this hotel expecting a comfortable nightâs sleep, as DoubleTree has consistently offered quality and affordability in my travels. This location is conveniently close to the airport, which was a major factor in our choice, as weâre mindful of our budget while traveling abroad. (It's worth it for a quality sleep)
Upon landing, just as we were about to call an Uber, the DoubleTree shuttle arrivedâperfect timing. Our driver, Mario, was fantasticâgreat music, a positive attitude, and impressively quick while still making us feel safe and entertained during the short six-minute ride.
After a long-haul flight, we were exhausted and eager to check in. Janeth at the front desk provided exactly the experience we neededâefficient, welcoming, and professional. She even handed us a couple of warm cookies, a signature DoubleTree touch, which we appreciated before heading up for much-needed showers and sleep. The bed was incredibly comfortableâone of the best Iâve had in a hotelâbut unfortunately, we didnât get to enjoy it for long.
Around 11 PM, we were abruptly woken by a group of middle-aged East Indian women loudly gossiping and laughing in the hallway. With an early morning international flight at 7 AM, this was far from ideal. My partner, frustrated, called out for quiet, only to be met with mocking laughter. I got up and opened the door to politely ask them to lower their voices or move their conversation inside their rooms. Instead, I was met with more mockery and even more boisterous conversation; one of them even sarcastically yelled out, âGoodnight, sir!â before finally dispersing.
In the morning, I brought up the issue with the front deskânot to escalate things, but simply to inform them. Unfortunately, the staff at 5 AM seemed indifferent, merely shrugging it off as if it were a common occurrence.
While the hotel itself delivered on comfort, service, and convenience, the lack of noise control and the dismissive response from staff left a sour note on an otherwise great stay. Iâd still recommend this hotel, but Iâd suggest requesting a quieter room or bringing earplugs, just in case of...
Read moreAverage hotel. No mention they had renovation going on or reduced rate for inconvenience of staying in the middle of the construction site. Check In staff didnât even mention anything, so when i got off the third floor, i was shocked if it was even operational floor. But walking by stacked chairs and other hallway furniture, i was able to find my room. Rooms are nice and clean but bathtub was something else: it was peeling all over. Kinda gross showering in a bathtub like this. And who decided to install super complicated faucets?! I initially thought i had no water in the shower. Called the front desk and apparently itâs the most common call they get: lady automatically explained me how it worked. I see quite a lot of people complain here about authorization charges and holds, i wasnât exception here either... So i booked the room through our corporate travel app, where corporate card is attached and is being charged automatically. Then front desk guy starts arguing with me that he canât charge that card (keep in mind, room is prepaid and payment is guaranteed), i said: well, i just stayed at another Hilton hotel and they started signing his song but after i asked them to just use the same card on file (twice!), they OKâd it. This one here in Houston just almost snapped at me saying that different properties have different policies. I was too tired to call for manager and continue arguing as i was flying all day and i just gave up and gave them my card. Which was another weird thing: travel app showed $95 rate but he put a hold of $120 on my card. What was even more confusing, when i was checking out next morning, my bill said $111 and lady (who was much nicer than PM shift crew) said that room charge went to the corporate card... ugh! For someone that is not familiar with all those authorizations and charges, itâs frustrating...
Read moreThe front desk personnel were friendly as can be and very helpful with all questions given. The lobby was very impressive tho renovations were going on during my stay. No biggie. The rooms though were not as an impressive. Especially when this is managed or owned by a Hilton. The fridge was not keeping anything cool at all. Probably due to the fact that its enclosed in a cupboard and can't breathe. Not sure what the temperature it was set at as I didn't look but regardless, drinks were never cold. In the bathroom, there was mold on the popcorn ceiling or someone tried to paint over it and it is still showing thru. The tub is peeling. It looks like a plastic coating was sprayed down to revitalize the look of the tub but its beginning to look worse than it did prior to the coating. The bathroom tub facet is or was coming off. There was enough RTV trying to seal it to the wall but is failing short of shabby. The towel holder above the tub looks like its about to fall off the wall. Anything other than towels will bring it down completely. There is only one washer and one drier for taking care of laundry (unless there is another pair located somewhere else). Noticed many times people waiting for use. Been in cheaper places along the interstates and had multiple machines because of this. Also, I believe someone in the other room beside me was smoking in their room. I could smell it when i entered my room. Its a shame that no one can read the placard (which states NO SMOKING) prior to entering the room (Not the hotels fault). Regardless, I expect a little better especially coming from a Hilton. If asked if I would visit again, I would as the commute to and from the airport is very good to the workcenter I was assigned to. Can't...
