Ostioneria Michoacan 16 Fuqua — Restaurant in Houston

Look over your bill closely especially if you are ordering lots of drinks and Jessica is your server. She will sneak in an extra round and a 10% “service charge”. We only had 2 adults and 2 children. So no big party or splitting of checks for this “service charge”. When we asked her about the extra round of drinks and the service charge, she nonchalantly said “oh I can take it off if you want”. She knew she got caught and had someone else come give us the updated bill.

Also, if you’re female and look Latina (I’m Vietnamese) but don’t speak Spanish, she will totally dismiss the reality that you’re speaking to her in English (as if she doesn’t understand English) and look over to your Mexican husband for “approval” before acknowledging your order. How do you get pass stereotypes if you have women like Jessica who needs to be submissive to a man and he’s not even yo man!

Food was good though. We did order queso for the kids but it was too spicy and asked her to take it back. She said she couldn’t. I don’t know of any restaurant, especially this size, that won’t take food back that has barely been touched. It wasn’t like we drank half a margarita and asked to send it back.

In summary, this review is more for the server, Jessica, than the establishment but servers are representations of the establishments. People will rarely give gratification but will blast a negative experience....

All I can say is please watch your receipt at this establishment.. They charge an automatic 15% tip even though we were only a party of two people. I was about to tip my waitress when I realized the tip was already included… Unfortunately, the sad part to me, was that I was willing to leave more than 15%, until it was charged to my bill without any notice beforehand.

Additionally, I believe it may have been the GM, but a woman came up to us several times with a QR code on the front and back of her badge and stated that if we left a 5 star review we would receive a 10% discount on our bill, because I initially posted a 5 star review… who doesn’t love a discount?! But now I realize it was only to automatically charge a tip without notice to our bill - that frankly wouldn’t have compared to what we would have wanted to give. Which is why I’ve changed my star rating to 1 and I wish I hadn’t posted the 5 star review to begin with.

Also, I felt as I was coerced to leave the review in the first place and then see my check afterwards…it sucks because the food is actually so amazing here - and the cooks and kitchen staff have no fault! They are the ones who deserve the automatic tips, not the waitresses that were over friendly for their...

We had family from our of town come in for my cousin funeral and they wanted sea food. My cousin found your restaurant and was excited to try it. We were a huge party, but your establishment didn't have many customers, so we figured it would be okay. The food was great, only my sister in law has ever been to your location, she assured the food was good which it was. The waitress in the other hand was not so attentive or nice ( unfortunately I didn't get her name, but we were the only large party after 10pm) like 6 of us got there later and she never gave us more menus, or chips when we got there. One person in our party specifically asked for no jalapenos, and the waitress assured they were on the side. When the order came the jalapenos were in the middle of the plate touching the nachos and the juice of the jalapenos was all over the middle of the plate. When telling the waitress the situation she was bothered because we wanted them remade, and it they couldn't then just to remove them from the ticket, the waitress the took the plate and rolled her eyes. If I could have removed her tip, I would have but because we were a large party she automatically...
