This is a ok store to go to buy hot foods, but be mindful when buying fresh meat from here ESPECIALLY goat meat. They freeze them to increase the weight and profit & during the holidays they’re even more frozen and heavier. 9ja ppl and 419 nawa for una. I just go to the halal meat market next door to them bcz they hv Good prices and honest business practices & esp for thanksgiving their fried turkeys durring the holidays are AMAZING. If any managers of southwest farmers market actually read these reviews, pls be more ethical in ur practices. Stop deep freezing goat meat to increase the weight and price on the scale! Also I ask that u stop homeless people from loitering around ur doors begging and harassing customers going in and out of ur establishment. At times there are 3 outside constituting a nuisance. I attached a pic of the alleged “cow tendon” I bought from farmers this Christmas against my better judgement. It was precut & frozen so I couldn’t readily identify it so I took their word for it. Boiled this mystery meat for almost 4 hours to get it to soften and it was still as tough as a car tire. Ended up trashing the entire amount thing before it ruined my soup & made me look bad to my guests. I hv no idea what this part of an animal this strange meat came from but this was no tendon! Ridiculous!

As someone who reviewed this place 6 years ago and has been a customer for 10+ years with my mom,I always come for their designer stew. It used to be sooo spicy and flavor filled in 2017-2019! After Covid the quality went down but it was still edible I think they changed chefs. Fast forward to today, the designer stew is absolutely horrible. It tastes like boiled water. I could’ve made this better at home. No taste no salt no spice. I think chef was changed once again. Asked for refund or exchange. They declined. I don’t think I’ll come here for hot food anymore, although the fish was very tasteful! Rice is also overcooked at the bottom and there was a weird employee man there, I had to leave because of him.

All food was delicious aside the hazardously peppered Asun! I mean I rate myself above average when it comes to eating pepper and spices, but this one is not good for health please, could barely eat it. Also for a small bowl of Asun worth a whooping $8,why so much bone? I guess you just park the left over bones in your kitchen and add pepper, please I should be able to bite meat from the bowl and not just bones. Lastly your cashiers can be more friendly, damn! Strong faces everywhere,na fight? I even witnessed one addressed a woman before me and I was like 🫢. It is well!

I visited my brother in Houston from Rolla Missouri and knowing Houston I was excited that I will be buying a lot of Nigerian food to last me a long time back in Rolla. So I asked my brother which Nigerian store I should visit and his wife said Southwest Farmers Market is the largest African Market with everything that I would ever want to buy. Cool I and my wife drove to the place on the December 26th 2015 and truthfully they had everything.

The only reason I gave 1 star is because they had everything. The rest of the experience was as bad as you can imagine. First, the market is filthy, packed to the max with little space to move around and the greatest of it all was a very horrible customer service experience which I will share now.

NOW MY EXPERIENCE, as I was looking around I saw bottles of Malta Guinness and I wanted to buy a full box (24 bottles). I asked if they sell it in carton and the manager went inside their store and brought a sealed carton of Malta Guinness which I paid big dollars for. I bought a lot of things from there and they even gave me a bag of rice for free. I got back to Rolla Missouri and opened my malt to enjoy, to my greatest surprise I found bottles of Fanta in it. WHAT!!! I called them and tried to explain that I am in Rolla Missouri and cannot return the item and that the manager gave me the item. How am I suppose to know that I should not trust the manager and rip open a sealed carton to confirm the content? Bottom line, they told me they will discuss it with higher management and will call me the next day. The next day nobody called. I called the day after and the put me on hold to get the manager but that was for 40 mins. I had to end the call because I needed to be at work. Till today nobody have contacted me and when I call they will put the call on hold immediately I explain myself and the reason I am calling. Additional, when ever they took my call I could hear people laughing on the background and things like that.

As much as I love the place because I can buy everything there, it is disheartening that they do not care for their customers. Maybe they do not have a matching competition yet, but when they do have a competition they will understand the need for sound customer service. They were outright rude and fraudulent, and it is annoying. If I eventually move to Houston I will never visit...

If there’s zero star to give the people who work here 😐that is exactly what I will give them. This is not my first time experiencing low/poor customer service with SOUTHWEST FARMERS MARKET without taking it to heart but certainly will be the last one today.

Imagine going to a store to grab two things, patiently waiting in line to check out (I was literally the last person on that line and one person was ahead of me) we were already waiting long enough before this lady just came from nowhere (in a rude manner) telling me to go join the other line in her words (this line is not working again) but the man in front of me was allowed to checkout.

Common sense/decency should tell one who understands a good customer service job to accommodate the last person on that line and close it (since I don’t have any one behind me) Not sure if she was the boss or something but gaddamn omg the prideeee was screaming in her, standing there like she own the whole of bissonnet… insisting I join the other checkout line (of course the one with long waiting customers)

I politely did that 🤦🏾‍♀️ all for me wait extra minutes again to checkout the things I got and the service worker told me “I can’t checkout until I buy something worth $10”

They really need to have a sign stating that customer need to get something worth the minimum amount. They really need to train their employees on how to properly work with customer and stop with the authoritative BS… it is lame and unnecessary if we don’t even get treated right supporting our own 🇳🇬 business...
