An evening out with my daughter and her adventurous white friend. Service was ok, no biggie. Server was nice but we felt a bit pressured to pay the bill before we were done eating. Finger Licking is a Nigerian restaurant serving authentic Naija cuisine. They are big on “efo riro” (mixed African vegetable soup). We decided to try other soups today. We had popular Naija drinks: Star Lager Beer and Orijin (spirit mixed drink with African herbs and fruit extracts. For morsels, we each had pounded yam, accompanied with Bitter Leaf Soup and Tilapia fish (1); Egusi (melon) soup with Assorted Meats: beef, shaki (tripe) and cow leg, popularly called “bokoto”! (2). Nice taste of home! 😋 Could be better though … to get the real local flavor in so those unfamiliar with Nigerian cuisine can get the best. And they do home deliveries with Uber Eats, Door Dash and Grub Hub.

I always try to give fair reviews averaging out over 2 or 3 visits and I’d have to say that 2 out of three of me visit here have been pretty disappointing. Most recently I ordered the egasi soup with chicken protein and Gnarri FUFU. I gave it two stars because the soup and sauce cover the protein was on point but the chicken was dry and I mean petrified dry. While the soup and fufu helped to ease things. It could not save the experience. I stopped to take it back in but I didn’t feel welcome to begin with. I’m not new to Nigerian culture by any means but the unwelcomed feeling was completely new to me. Actually, I feel like it’s my fault at this point. I will just not be returning. It disappointing because they are one of the better known spot for this cuisine and at +$20 for soup/protein/fufu. I’d expect more.

This was my first time trying this place and the customer service was terrible. As soon as I informed that the meat was too tough, the waitress had an attitude. I wanted to do an exchange for chicken instead something that wasn’t so dry and tough. They wait 15 mins to come back and tell me they’re out of chicken smh. They were not out they just didn’t want to replace my meat. The egusi soup was ok but I would never step back into this facility. They demanded that I pay for something that I couldn’t even consume, I requested mgr and she had the nerve to tell me it’s not even about the mgr, then proceeds to get the cook from back and try and convince me that the meat is supposed to look and taste like that. Rude establishment and do not recommend.

Lets start off with the girl up front with the thick black rimmed glasses, zero customer service, a big minus. Show up here with the whole family for lunch, no one at the door to usher us in, above mentioned girl see us from behind the counter and just puts her head down. We walk up to her and ask if they are open, she barely answers, yes. Was very impatient explaining the menu to my daughters and kinda rude. Did not even wait on us why we were eating at all. I had to go get up and go over to her for some to-go packages, and then back again to ask her for the check. But she knew to stand over me to make sure the tip was written.

Anyways, fast-forward to the next day, for the first time ever, someone tried to access my account for the credit card I used to pay. Had to cancel card...
