We are a family that loves pizza. My hubs grew up in Chicago and adore places like Rosattis, Spanky's , and sometimes Grimaldi's. Pizza is a household fav. We wanted to try something new and different to break the monotony of the establishments above. It was fairly easy to find and there was plenty of parking. When we arrived, it was after lunch, so there weren't tons of people. We were seated, and our amazing waitress Amarya came over to assist us. She was very sweet and offered lots of suggestions, being this was our first time. I decided on the Alfredo pizza, and I added spinach and jalapeños. The hubs ordered a meat lovers type pizza. I forgot the name. We also ordered cheese bread. Their lunch special comes with a salad, which is great. The price is good for an 8 inch and a salad. We did not spend a lot of money at all. Another plus! Cheese bread: Lots of cheese with minimal flavor. Marinara minimal flavor Alfredo Pizza: No flavor Meat lovers pizza: He shrugged his shoulders like it's alright. So moral of the story, while we enjoyed everything about this establishment from parking to seating and service, the main character was not the best to our taste buds. I am quite sure we wont be back unfortunately. The reviews had me really hyped about going here but it's a NO for me. Try it out though.

I tried the Chicago-style deep dish a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, so I decided to come back and try the buffet for more variety. I’m glad I did—it was a great experience! The buffet includes pizza and unlimited soft-drink for $13.95. You can add a side salad for just $2 more. I think that’s a great value, especially since they also offer a dessert pizza. The one I saw looked like it had apples, nuts, and a rich dark drizzle, almost like a caramel or chocolate syrup. I didn't try it, I was just too full. I went right at 11:00 a.m. when they opened, but I’d recommend arriving around 11:30–noon instead, since that’s when they really start bringing out different types of pizza continuously. The only downside was that they didn’t list the names or styles of the pizzas as they came out, you just had to guess. Some were thin crust, some were tossed, and a few were deep dish. By the time I finished my second round, I was already too full to try more! Overall, it’s definitely worth it. I just wish the buffet was offered more than twice a week (only on Tuesdays and Fridays). Still, I’ll definitely be going back sooner rather than later.

For being named Star Pizza, their pizza is awful. I had tried Star about two or three times prior. Had never tried their pizza. Their sandwiches were good - not great - as was the spaghetti. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, we wanted to give it one ‘final go’ with the pie. We decided to get a large cheese pizza, and a kids spaghetti as a side. Was very surprised when I opened the pizza box when I got home to see a mountain of cheese. The dough was soggy and ‘doughy’ and lacked strength and quite frankly flopped. There was no crunch from a nicely cooked crust. Was quite disappointed actually. Ate half because we were starving, but ended up throwing out the rest (we HATE wasting). Spaghetti was cold (we live about 4 mins away from Star, and arrived well before their quoted wait time for the food [25-35, we were there in 17]) and the meatball was luke warm at best. After several mediocre experiences here I will be taking my business elsewhere. Hope this helps you.

star pizza has been my family’s go-to lunch spot for as long as i can remember. over the course of the last 5 years i have noticed a substancial decline is overall service (and even food) quality. the size of a large salad feels smaller, though i cannot 100% declare that it has. the prices have gotten higher. and customer service has dropped off substantially.

recently i went for lunch with my family, and now that star pizza has vegan cheese, having a dairy allergy, i am able to order pizza again. in the past i have been able to go outside of their peak hours and speak with the chef and easily request a sandwich with no cheese or butter, with no problems. this time, again, we chose to go when they weren’t busy, so i could explain my request to the server. the last thing i ever want to be is an obnoxious person with an allergy who moans about ever restaurant messing up. i mentioned to the server my allergy and that id like a half starburst half margarita with vegan cheese. i can understand how he might misunderstand and only put vegan cheese on one half of the pizza. this is what happened. i looked at the pizza when it came out and noticed that the cheese on one side looked suspicious, so when a host came over and asked how everything looked/tasted. i asked her if she happened to know if this was what the vegan cheese was supposed to look like. she stuttered and said “uhm. yes!”

she lied. to my face. i was still suspiscious and had people taste it for me and eventually we asked our actual server, who asked the kitchen, who confirmed that it was dairy. i’m not upset to have received a pizza with dairy. kitchens make mistakes. customers miscommunicate with servers frequently. it very well might be my fault.

what concerns me is a host, who willingly either lied blatantly, or didn’t care to know the truth to answer a detrimental (and potentially deadly) question. i was upset and they remade the pizza, which i appreciate.

what i do not appreciate was receiving the bill to find the $23 dollar price of my pizza (that they apologized and said they would reduce), instead being $26 and having an additional auto-gratuity slapped on to it. i understand auto gratuity for larger parties, but when a host lies to your face about food that could hurt you, it’s difficult to want to pay a total of 10 more dollars than listed on the menu for it.

i used to love this place as a kid, but i really have noticed that the “care”...

Very disappointed in the unprofessionalism, lack of couth, and codesending demeanor over the phone from the owner, Hank Zwirek.

Today he called me; and accused me of wanting free food, threatened to call the police, mockingly called me a big spender for ONLY ordering a pizza, and was angrily told to never come back.

Very unbecoming of the owner of Star Pizza.

Day before: Pre-ordered deep dish pizza as I know it takes 30-40 mins to bake. After 10 minutes of being seated, pizza was dropped off without plates and silverware (had to ask for them - twice). We started eating and realized the pizza was cold. The manager's only suggestion was to reheat the pizza. Were we suppose to put our half eaten slices (2 out of 4 slices) back into the pan to be heated? (Isn't that a health code violation?) So I suggested they make another pizza. Nothing happened. We ate our cold pizza and I had to go searching for the server to get our bill. Once provided, I asked what did Manager do to remedy the problem, she said "nothing". We paid and left.

Sent an email to customer service assuming this information would helpful to management / owner as they may want to know the service their staff provides their patrons.

Staff was subpar when available and customer service was...
