My little dogs (dachshund and poodle) LOVED the Johnny Steele Dog Park before it was destroyed by the flood. We counted the months, days, hours to enjoy this dogpark with a private section for the little ones with their own swimming pool. We were there the first day when it reopend! We were planning on going every day, like we did before, saying hi to the other small guys and for a dive in the pool. This plan is of the table now. Believe me, we tried and tried but every time we visit the park we see less of our little friends. It’s all about the big dogs. They race around the pool and through the water hardly noticing the scary eyes of the little ones. Today was the limit for us. Two huge sheepdog started chasing my poodle until it ended up on its back. Luckily in front of my feet. They hovered over her together with some other big dogs. The sheepdogs growled and showed their teeth. It made the other dogs join in. This is bullying pur sang! Everybody panicked because it got quite scary. I grabbed my dog out of the ring of dogs and ran over to my dachshund who was watching with big eyes. In the meantime the owner tried to control her dogs and assure everyone that they were not agressive! With two dogs under my arms and a pounding heart I left the dog park. No more Johnny Steele Dog Park for my little guys......

My dog LOVES this park. We go to the large dog side and have been a handful of times in the past few weeks since discovering. Extremely spacious with their pools and area to run. The other dogs and their humans have always been nice. Someone donates tennis balls here, so there are always some balls for my golden retriever to play with. (It’s a perk for me since I normally bring one and my boy always gives it away haha.) A lot of people park on the road, but I’m still not sure if that’s legal. So, I either park a little before or at the Buffalo park parking area ($1 for 3 hours). If it’s after 5 pm, Ill go further down and park by Dunlavy restaurant where it’s free. With my dog loving the water, I like that there is a moment for him to walk and dry off before getting to the car too. The only reason that I didn’t give this park 5 stars is the water is definitely dirty (it’s pools for dogs though) and there’s only one hose for rinsing them off. Plus, there seems to be an area that runs off water right next to the fence. All in all, my dog loves this park and I definitely still enjoy bringing him, so we will be going...
