Taqueria Mi Huetamo — Restaurant in Houston

I just went here with my family for the first time. This is a typical hole in the wall, "mom and pop" authentic Mexican restaurant. The ambiance in my opinion is not pleasant, but the food makes up for all of it. We all tried the barbacoa de Borrego, which is basically lamb cooked through vapor alongside a consome, which is a very delicious broth. They then bring freshly chopped cilantro and onion to add to your consome, along with lemon and various chile sauces. The reason I'd give this restaurant a 4 start and not a 5 is because 1) the ambiance was not very cozy and 2) they had our meals priced at $19 per order on the menu, but when the waitress brought the receipt, it noted $22 per plate. When we asked her about the error, she stated she forgot to mention to us that the owner recently bumped the prices up.. This place is amazing. The young man working Tuesday night on the 23rd insisted we stayed to eat even though they closed at 8. It was about 7:40 when we arrived. I didn't want to stay because they were closing so soon. I hate doing that to places. Anyways. The place was amazing. The young man was very kind and taught us a little about his culture and where he's from in Mexico. My 3 year old ate almost all of his food. Which was 2 enchiladas, rice and beans. We don't live in the area, but I can guarantee when we do come back to Houston, we will be going back. Their hospitality was excellent. The food was delicious. The atmosphere made us feel like we were family. I highly recommend this restaurant...

Waitress brought drinks. We told her we needed to look at the menu per this is my son's first time not familiar with menu. We waited 20 minutes until the waitress noticed us again and asked if our order had been taken already. I told her no one has come back to ask us our order. I normally I would have waited out 10 minutes before walking out but because my husband had his mind set on the barbacoa I stayed. I will definitely not come back again. It does not matter if the food is good. I am sure there are other places who have better food and great service.
