Whenever I'm in Houston, people always suggest going to yuppie brunch spots like Benjy's or Baby Barnaby's, when all I really want are Buffalo Grille's buttery pancakes, cheesy stuffed baked potatoes, and delicious french toast. Don't get me wrong, those places are pretty good, but sometimes all you really want is a brunch that's not going to break the bank and a waiter/waitress who is not going to bother you every five minutes and coax you into leaving. Thank goodness for Buffalo Grille where a good meal usually costs me $8 or less and you can stay there hours on end without being bothered.
I first discovered Buffalo Grille on New Year's Day and it was the best hangover cure ever. DON'T JUDGE ME, I know this is a family friendly place, but sometimes you need some good breakfast food to cure a bad hangover. Our group got tons to order, but among my favorites were the hash browns (so golden and crispy!), strawberry french toast, omelette, and my absolute favorite was the stuffed baked potato (#4) that has cheese, avocado, salsa, and so much goodness in it. Seriously, I still crave it. I've been back a couple of times and once a friend got their cream cheese and chive eggs which were also delicious.
The place is not a fancy restaurant by any means, but it definitely is cute and cozy. It's great for big groups and their menu selection is huge, so it will definitely satisfy any taste. Also, the fact that Voss Creamery is so close is...

However, things weren't always perfect. I quickly learned to never order their red beans and rice, because it's literally just white rice and some beans slopped on a plate. Same with their so-called hash browns which are apparently chopped up onions. That's ok because no menu or kitchen is perfect.
But most recently, I guess after inflation has increased food costs, the quality of their hamburgers has declined to the point where it's worse than a fast food hamburger, and that's truly disappointing. The meat is nearly flavorless and seems like it's about 35% cereal filler. The portion size in my opinion has also shrunk, but that hardly matters in the face of how bad the burgers are now versus what was a personal favorite.
Tried it again today in case quality has improved. Cashier asked me how I wanted my burger cooked which is new. It came out cooked to the wrong temperature, missing the mushrooms I paid $1 extra for and as flavorless as ever. ...
Read moreNice restaurant for breakfast or lunch. Breakfast is served all day. We had their lunch menu today. BLT basket and a chicken salad basket. Both sandwiches came with chips. I originally wanted breakfast, but I wanted items that seemed kinda pricey. They have breakfast plates available, but I wanted eggs and 2 meats. All meets are priced al la carte. For instance, a sausage link or patty was $4.39 each. That seemed crazy expensive to me. I opted for the lunch instead. Seating is complicated if you go around the breakfast hours or the lunch rush. We didn’t have any trouble finding a table since it was after the busy time. They have small patios on both sides of the restaurant. Patios are dog friendly. This establishment is a walk up order style. They call your name and you retrieve your food. You also get your own drink. With all the self service, they still ask for a tip when paying. If you follow me, you will notice a trend here; I don’t like the expectation of tipping these days. It grinds my gears! All that said, I do like the restaurant and I recommend it. Side note: the pancakes I saw at the table next to us were huge! Like as big as your face huge! That seems to be a big item...
