This is my first time going to this restaurant, seeing that I pass it up every morning taking my daughter to school. I ordered the ‘Flying Biscuit Breakfast’ which comes with two eggs, a biscuit, choice of side ( mine was the grits) & chicken sausage. I asked the guy taking my order were the grits good because this is MY FIRST TIME TRYING THIS PLACE. He sounded encouraging and stated “they are good , they already come with cheese in it” so I was like okay let me get that. By the time I got home, I opened the plate to see my chicken sausage was rock hard like a hockey puck with this white film on it. The eggs didn’t look so good, almost look artificial, the grits were terrible. Very salty and I don’t know what cheese they used in it but it was not good. The biscuit was probably the best thing sitting on that plate. But we spent $30+ on two meals, I expect it to be somewhat appetizing. This was not the case. So we went back and because I rather not make a scene around other customers, the young lady greeted me and I explained to her very quietly my issue with the food, so the gentleman that was sitting at the bar doesn’t hear my complaint. She told me to go to the register and just let them know there. I encountered the guy that I spoke with on the phone to place my order and he was very very kind. He got another employee to assist him with replacing the order with another item of the SAME price. I mentioned to him the issue with the chicken sausage and he stated “oh that’s because we make it in the oven so it has that film on it, you can request for them to make it on the grill and it will turn out different.” So I did not want to make it difficult for them or myself with doing any refunds or differences. They had no problem making something new. I replaced the meal I had with the veggie omelette with a side of the “moon dusted” potato’s. If you clearly look at that item on the menu, it stated that the veggie omelette comes with “eggs, onions, red peppers, mushrooms, spinach, cheddar cheese & SERVED WITH HOLLANDAISE for dipping” I noticed by the time I got to the car the hollandaise sauce was not in the bag. So went back inside for the sauce and he says “going forward, you need to request the sauce” excuse me??? It’s on the menu as listed on what I ordered, why do I need to request it? The customer service went down from there because he was being very snarky at that point. Just say you forgot the sauce and you’re going to get one. Why do I need to request something that comes with the meal??? So with this being my first experience, I was very unhappy and I will not be recommending this place to anyone at all. I used to work in food service for the health department and I was going to reach out to my former work mates about this but I decided to just bring it to awareness here. The omelette was edible and the potatoes were cold but I...
Read moreFirst time at this location, but 2nd visit to this franchise overall. I got the French toast again 😅 and the avocado toast this time, and it was all still fabulously delicious!
My roommate and I went first thing on a Sunday morning at 7am, so we had the whole restaurant to ourselves and got to enjoy our meal in a quiet atmosphere. However, service was a little disappointing. Despite being the only patrons at 7am, the server sat us in a booth right by the kitchen/busser exit, when there was plenty of nicer seating. The seating was also unreasonable because the server couldn't see our table at all from around 2 corners where she was prepping silverware (not even if we popped our heads up over the booth or raised our hands to flag her down). Because we waited longer than 15 minutes, My roommate had to finally get up from our booth and walk across the restaurant to get her attention and let her know we were ready to order.
So far, of the 2 locations I've dined at, the food is good! But it'd be extremely smart for these establishments to work on training their waitstaff better, especially to overcompensate for the fact that their parking situation isnt exactly a great selling point for...
Read moreChances are you will end up paying 25 dollars or more for scrambled eggs and bacon at this place, and I don't care how good anyone claims their bacon and eggs to be - it's bacon and eggs. I'll break this down for anyone who cares to read this. First, parking at this place is very limited, so unless you want to pay to park at the apartment, if there is any parking available, you will likely need to fight to park much further down Canal St or somewhere else. So, there is the potential for having to pay for parking in addition to paying for food. Second, you're going to be paying close to or over 15 bucks for just about anything on the menu after a drink and tax, unless you're just drinking water. Most likely you're going to be paying close to 20 bucks or more for food and a drink. If it's about seeing and being seen then hey, you do you. The bottom line is that Arcos on Navigation is a better deal with better food, and that place has been local institution since the 1970's. If you want southern diner style food like this place then try the Breakfast Klub or Harry's. There are better places to spend your money on bacon and eggs imo. Why not open this space to a Houston...
