It was a weird experience. We weren't given menus for quite awhile. It wasn't until I said something to my coworker (we were chit-chatting so not in a rush) and the server overheard me did he bring menus. The server was nice but informed us of incorrect items. For instance, he told us the soups, I ordered one kind and my coworker ordered a different one. He brought us both the kind I ordered. I mentioned it and then he came back and said he was incorrect about the soups and it was something else. He said our dinner would come with spinach, but when it arrived it was green beans (which I like better), he would ask us if we'd like a refill of an incorrect drink, just odd stuff. I also don't think I've ever spent $60 on a plate that didn't include soup or salad.. we had to purchase the soup separately for $12. We ordered the veal chop specials - but they looked like pork. I asked the server if it was pork, he said yes - it's a veal chop. My coworker and I were really confused but it still tasted good! Another man came by and asked us if we were alright (maybe the manager?) and I said I thought we were getting veal. He said it is veal, I'll show you and walked away before we could say anything. He came back with a pork chop in a sealed package (like from the store) and a saran wrapped piece like ours and said see? and to us, they both looked like pork but oh well. We still liked it. It came with scalloped potatoes but it was about 2 bites worth. We had seen the prices before we went, but it wasn't until we got the bill that we realized the prices were from 2 years ago and were about 1/2 of what they currently are. We both got the special, a cup of soup, and a soda and our bill was $145. A bit spendy, a bit odd, but...
Read moreHas become one of our favorite spots for a romantic dinner, entertaining friends, or celebrating special times. We have never been disappointed. Been in business since 1994 and I can understand why. Reminiscent if the days when you we’re welcomed to a restaurant and made to fell like they were glad and appreciated you came. Never feel rushed or that they are just trying to “turn the table”. Cypriano, our usual waiter, is friendly, attentive and always has suggestions to try and many times we leave our selections to him. The last appetizer he suggested was a trio of Shrimp Scampi, Scallop With Raspberry Glaze and Crab Cake with Hollandaise. The NY Strip with Peppercorn Sauce is superb. The lamb chops are perfectly cooked and seasoned. Only problem with the Pork Chop is that it is so generous, we always need to bring some home. The fish is always flakey and flavorful. The desserts are a must try. Last visit we sampled the Chocolate Mousse Cake and Bread Pudding aka mode. Definitely enough to share with 4…and oh so GOOD!!! Definitely keeping it on my “go-to list” whenever needing a quiet restaurant for a special occasion…and “wanting...
Read moreI was in Houston on a business trip and was looking for a good place to eat. So glad I found this restaurant.
First impression was very positive with extremely friendly greetings from all the staff we passed. Our waiter was also very personable and explained the different options and specials.
The food was fantastic. I got the beef tenderloin with brandy mushroom sauce and peppercorn sauce (there were a number of different options offered in terms of how the meat should be cooked, as well as multiple options for sauce). The waiter offered to bring me both sauces on the side so I could try them both and see which I liked more.
The meat was extremely tender and an even medium as ordered and the sauces were delicious. The sides were tasty although I could have done with just a little more.
The only thing I would recommend is getting some updated prices online. The prices for the entrees are all about $20 cheaper online than actually on the menu, which was a little bit of a surprise. But all in all a great experience and very...
