Trill Burger Houston (Richmond Blvd): A Hilariously Awful First (and Last) Impression
Let me tell you about my utterly baffling and frankly insulting experience attempting to patronize Trill Burger on Richmond Blvd today. What was supposed to be a simple quest for a cheeseburger turned into a multi-U-turn odyssey of pure, unadulterated customer service incompetence.
The saga began with the siren song of "drive-thru open." Foolishly, I obeyed, executing a maneuver of questionable legality to access this promised land of burger convenience. What awaited me? A colossal orange cone, defiantly blocking the very lane I was directed to. Undeterred (initially), I informed the attendant of this monumental obstacle. His response? A casual assurance that someone would emerge to take my order.
And so I waited. Five glorious minutes ticked by as I watched the designated order-taker – let's call him the Soda Stalker – completely ignore my vehicle, instead dedicating his attention to what I can only assume were the fascinating nuances of the outdoor soda canister storage. He strolled right in front of my car, eyes glued to the metal cylinders, utterly oblivious to the paying customer trapped behind a traffic cone.
Surely, I thought, pulling up to the drive-thru window itself would elicit some form of acknowledgment. Wrong. The individuals within the glass enclosure engaged in a silent, theatrical performance of "Are we taking drive-thru orders?" Their gazes flickered between me and each other, but the window remained stubbornly sealed. No greeting, no explanation, no instruction to move along – just blank stares and palpable indifference. Utter disregard for a hungry customer.
Having been thoroughly ignored and disrespected, I attempted my escape, executing another U-turn (my second of the afternoon, and counting). Surely, the actual parking lot would offer refuge. Nope. The same helpful attendant informed me, with the unwavering conviction of a parking enforcement officer, that the entrance I was attempting to use was, in fact, an exit only. Never mind the empty parking lot. Never mind the lack of any other visible entry point. Apparently, my mere presence in the "exit" lane warranted a security intervention.
At this point, my burger craving had morphed into a burning desire for basic human decency. A third U-turn (yes, backing into traffic – you read that right) later, I surrendered. My gaze fell upon the welcoming beacon of a Whataburger. Five minutes, one polite transaction, and a cheeseburger later, I was finally headed home.
Trill Burger, your Richmond location offered me not a culinary experience, but a masterclass in how not to run a restaurant. The blatant disregard for a customer actively trying to spend money at your establishment was astounding. While the sentiment of supporting Black-owned businesses is strong, it's repeatedly undermined by establishments that seem to have zero interest in providing even the most rudimentary level of customer service.
My first and unequivocally last attempt to experience Trill Burger ended with me driving around the block three times and ultimately settling for a chain restaurant that, at the very least, understands the concept of acknowledging a paying customer. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the frustration, the illegal U-turns, and the profound disappointment. There are plenty of other burger joints in Houston that actually want your business. Avoid this location...
Read moreYesterday I pulled into the drive through line at 5:39PM and I know the exact time because I called my bestfriend when I pulled up. While waiting in line I witnessed the employees unloading items out of a deep freezer from a white van that had burger patties, fries, and ice. I also witnessed a gentleman come out and start to tape pieces papers in different places around the parking lot. He even spoke to my two year old and asked him if he was going to be getting some fries and which my son replied yes and he went on to tell him to make sure he gets some trill sauce on the side so he can dip his fries in. A little while after that conversation was over a gentleman with a headset came out and I believe he had put a cone out behind a certain car I’m assuming indicating that the drive thru line was closed and then he walked back to the front of cars and it seems like he was walking to cars taking orders and I’m only assuming that because I later seen him and another guy come out with trill bags and drinks and handing them to different cars. So the line finally starts to move up around 6:05/6:10PM so here I am thinking I was getting ready to order food for me and my son just to be told they were closed because they were hosting an event. I even asked the guy in the window were they not at least taking orders for the people who were in line before 6 and he replied with “I was outside trying to get y’all orders but my manager told me i couldn’t take any more orders because we were closing at 6” and he told me come back at a later time. I just said “okay”. Even though I was extremely angry, I didn’t take it out on him because I know he was just following his managers orders. My frustration is with management and the fact that I got in the drive thru line before 6PM and for them to allow me to sit in that line for well over 20 minutes and not take my order because they were closing for an event is ridiculous. They knew way in advance that they were going to be having an event so they should have shut the drive thru line down 30 minutes in advance if they had no intention of serving people past 6PM. That was TERRIBLE customer service to have me wait that long and I never got to place an order. I can understand them closing down early to host their event but what I can’t understand is how they couldn’t serve the people who had been waiting in line well before 6. Or why have us wait in line so long, they could have politely said “sorry we won’t be taking any more orders due to us having to close early for an event” and I could have went on about my way. To be stuck and line and not be able to move and then to be told they weren’t taking orders is really unacceptable and terrible customer service. I’ve been to trill burger a few times so the food is always good but I’m very disappointed in the customer service because they handled having an event...

The hours of operation are from 11am -9pm I highly suggest arriving in parking lot by 10:30am. The reason is because you will have a parking space to park in and won’t be crowded at all. I actually arrived around 10:15am and sat in the parking lot and watched the parking lot crowd up.
About 10:30am I seen people starting to form a line and once you see that it’s time to get out the car and head towards the line. They have tubs filled with water for people standing in line. They have tents out there also to try to keep you shaded.
Once doors open up at 11am they allow like 10-15 people in and hold the line. I understand they do that to give people to order food and get it. So they try to keep things moving in a timely fashion.
Once inside it’s a simple menu you either want a single. Double, or triple meat combo. Nothing more or less. I didn’t like the fries at all so i definitely will pass on them when I go back there. The lemonade was hitting on another level there. It’s a smash burger and only comes with grilled onions and pickles nothing more or less at all. People are expecting the works with the burger and that’s not happening. Once you order your food you shouldn’t be there longer than 20 minutes.
Everything was hot and fresh I just couldn’t get jiggy with the fries at all. The burger was great I had to order two more to go but I don’t recommend reheating them cause the bun is toasted to a certain extent so reheating it will make bun hard.
Overall I enjoyed myself this is a sit down and talk about past time location. The burger spot is a spot to grab food and eat. Each party there should take about 20 min. I disagree with the soda machine placement I believe it should of been at different location because it creates a line between customers and cup holders. Other then that it’s definitely worth checking out though. Anytime after 11am you are going to be in line waiting so bring some headphones if possible to listen to music. Don’t be afraid to grab some water because it’s for the customers standing in that sun. Hope this review sums up everything.
Parking is free in the parking lot but it’s limited I have heard it is other places to park but they may charge because it’s in a busy area off Richmond and south shepherd. I spent $16 for burger, fries and a drink. Same thing you will spend at any fast food restaurant. If you attend chic fil lay you will spend $20...
