Where to begin? I'm staying at this hotel for 1.5 years,7 days a week, continuously. I work for the government, helping to rebuild the technology that was damaged in Houston by hurricane Harvey. The government is paying my entire hotel bill and all expenses. I'm a Hilton Hotel Diamond member (the highest level) and could stay at any local Hilton hotel for free - any hotel I stay at is paid by the government, so I could go to any other hotel at no cost to myself. But I won't, and I'll tell you why. I've been here about 3 months now and like every hotel I've stayed at worldwide, each hotel has some issues and problems unique to them. This hotel is no different. It's an older hotel, but under relatively new management. Yet it has some quirks and needs some work. But the management , staff, and maintenance folks make it a pleasure to stay here. They fix everything as soon as you tell them, no matter what it is. The front desk staff bend over backward to go out of their way to help you. They'll remember your name and know you. When I suddenly had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night, they offered to drive me, and have followed up with me since to see how I'm doing. When's the last time your front desk staff offered to do that for you? When I asked for a new mattress, they installed a new one the very next day. Same thing when the kitchen stove in the room died - they had a new one installed next day. Abraham the manager is kind and beyond helpful. He threw a small Holiday party in the lobby for all staff and guests, pizza, food and drinks. When the elevator went out of service, he comped me several nights for the inconvenience. He is always looking to help and insists on getting things done right. The jewel in the crown is the maintenance staff. Everyone employed by this hotel works so hard, but Hose (spelling??) really does. It's obvious that he's swamped beyond belief with work and things to do, yet he is always calm, smiling, friendly, and helpful. He will stop and chat with you for the sake of getting to know you and helping you. There is no problem he can't fix or have fixed. The hotel - and us guests - are lucky to have him and all the other staff that work so hard on our behalf. So there you have it. Free parking, a kitchen in every room, pets are allowed, a central location that's absolutely amazing, and an unbelievable staff that will help you and get you through whatever you're going through in your life. If you stay here long term like I do, you'll start thinking of them as a good family and you won't feel alone here. They'll have your back. I'd give this hotel 10...
Read moreThis place is suffering from huge amounts of deferred maintenance. They intentionally cut services to the bone to offer the guest the lowest price. But cutting services and not repairing things are two different topics. I've stayed with these folks three times now and the first thing I notice is every room door in the place is sagging and has to be pulled tightly shut. You can't depend on the door locking behind you without checking it first. The first room they assigned to me was terrible. When I opened the door I found a bed with no sheets or pillow slips, linoleum flooring that was peeling in the bathrooms, and a generally disheveled appearance. I went right back to the desk and told them that room was not acceptable. They assigned me to another one that was usable but lacked a whole lot compared against their advertising.||||In the room is a typical extended stay kitchenette, complete with refrigerator, two burner electric range top, and a microwave. There wasn't a dish to cook or serve in of any type, no silverware, or spatulas or colanders, or anything like that. The cabinets were completely bare. The General Electric refrigerator vibrated loud enough it was annoying at night and difficult to get to sleep. The vending machines, both of them, failed to dispense at least once per machine, which I never complained about. They probably don't own them. The bathtub would barely drain, and I didn’t complain about that, either. I don't like to shower standing in my own waste water. ||||I picked this placed based on location rather than price, and I would happily pay more for a better property, but free parking is a scarcity in this area. I don't want my friends and family confronted with a parking charge just to come for a visit. But, there are enough problems here that I likely will keep on looking for some place better maintained but also does not charge to park. Access to this property is pretty easy, and there are lots of restaurants within 1/2 mile of this place. I would say this place is fairly quiet considering how much activity goes on outside these doors all day and all night. More than anything I get the feeling that the franchisee is only interested in getting the money, and doing the least possible to keep their franchise and keep guests coming. They really don’t care if everything works, or the offering is as advertised, or even meets a minimum specification. There are other companies in the dirt cheap room business that have much better standards than this.||||I may or may not come back, but I’m definitely looking for a...
Read moreI have stayed with this place before, even though I don't like it. It's in the right place for my needs. They don't charge a lot, and the customer doesn't get a lot. The desk staff was courteous and professional, but I know they only have so much they can work with.||When I got to my room it was in working order. The bath enclosure had cracked in the bottom, and rather than replace it they had glued it up with RTV rubber. If they had put in a quality tub to begin with, they wouldn't be having this trouble. I know it won't stay sealed very long, if it's even sealed at the time. ||The most offensive thing about this place is no ice machine. The guest gets two empty ice trays in their full-size refrigerator. Additionally the refrigerator doors hinge on the wrong side, making the door difficult to open. They are reversible, and someone needs to reverse them.||The entry lock on the sleeping room door was cranky and problematic. Sometimes it took 3 tries to get it to open. Their vending machine refused to dispense soda twice, at which time the desk agent used cash instead of credit cards (known good) and it finally dispensed. I got the standard "we don't own this machine" disclaimer, which doesn't concern me at all as long as it's not taking money/refusing to dispense product.||They claim to have breakfast in the mornings, but I have yet to see more than just coffee. There was nothing there at 9AM when I checked out. The pillows in the room were about as big as the head of a Q-tip, and I did ask them to supplement what was in the room. The bed was OK, and the towels were adequate, but I wouldn't call them fluffy. The guest gets one itty-bitty soap flake, and one microscopic bottle of shampoo.||The wall outlet by the desk has no volts in it. Their wi-fi works OK, once the guest goes through quite a bit of coaxing to get it to authenticate. I didn't use the TV, range top or other cooking features, but the light in the range hood was burned out/didn't work.||Generally speaking I'll choose a bit better grade brand than this, but there's nothing else close by that works for me. That other national brand just a block to the West was so horrible I committed I'm not going back there. This place has free/easy parking, and I've never had any trouble with leaving my car...
