I feel sad as a Venezuelan to express the following: Our food is succulent, full of flavors and aromatic spices, condiments and dressings. I do not know what region of Venezuela the owners of this place are from but they definitely do NOT correspond to the Venezuelan flavors, for example: La Hayaca .... dry, without annatto oil, without sauce 57, without flavor or smell ... Horrible. The empanadas: the dough is too sweet and the stew: the shredded meat is dry and tasteless. The arepas are a disaster, the dough breaks and the stew ... I insist does not taste like Venezuelan stew, dry, without flavor or seasoning. I am sure that the cook is from another country and does not use: Worcestershire sauce, Maggi sauce and Maggi cubes, mysterious chili peppers, leek. If they charged $20 for a really succulent and well-finished Hayaca, they would have lines of Venezuelans waiting in line to buy them like it happens in Katy. It's a shame we don't have the good Venezuelan restaurants that are in Katy and NOT in HOUSTON. Many times we would like to go to Katy to buy super delicious Venezuelan food but it's 35 minutes there, the wait time and 35 minutes back 😩 We can only do that on the weekends, but during the week when we feel like taking out, we DO NOT HAVE anything as good in Houston as they have in Katy. Excuse our opinion but we think it's about improving our flavors and not SETTLING with what they present to us. Thanks for the space and good luck !!!

Ahhhh by the way I invite you to visit a fast food restaurant in Katy called La Mora Fast Food that represents the Authentic Venezuelan Flavor in its meals, it is a shame for us in Houston NOT TO ENJOY its EXCELLENT VENEZUELAN MENU 💯 but we hope that at some point they will open a branch here in...

I had been wanting to try this place given the close proximity to work, good reviews and i have never tried Venezuelan food. The place is small and well kept. They were able to accommodate our group of 7 without a problem. There are lots of awards on the wall so between that and the reviews I was expecting to be wowed. I opted for the Pabellon Plate being that it's a staple dish and I figured it would be as close to an authentic experience as I would get. The food came out hot and in a timely manner and for the most part the whole table got there food within a few minutes of each other (which is pretty impressive for a small place like this). I came in a little concerned from some of the reviews that the food might not quite be enough, but it was actually plenty. However, the price has gone up from these reviews as the plate was $11.50 rather than $10.50. I was satisfied with the amount of food and the flavor, but not wowed by it. They did give us tap water which was nice (you have to ask or they will assume you want bottled water for $1 a bottle). It felt like I had a healthy lunch in a more expensive area of town. Most of the rest of my group were a little more impressed with the food. The group average probably would have been closer to a 4, but personally I just...

A Scrumptious Surprise in Upper Kirby - Gusto Gourmet

If you're in the mood for an unforgettable culinary adventure, look no further than Gusto Gourmet "Fresh Fusion to Go." Tucked away in the lively Upper Kirby district, this cute, unassuming eatery offers a brilliant medley of Venezuelan and Mediterranean flavors that are sure to excite even the most discerning of palates. The Arepa Pabellón was nothing short of extraordinary. Picture this: a freshly made arepa packed with juicy shredded beef, velvety black beans, buttery avocado, and divine hand cheese. Each bite was an explosion of taste and texture that left me speechless. Next up was La Pelua, a heavenly combination of moreish shredded beef, rich, gooey shredded cheese, and a zesty cilantro sauce, all nestled within a perfect, golden arepa. This dish was a taste sensation that I couldn't get enough of. Parking can be a bit tricky, as it's mostly on the street, but there's always the option to valet if you prefer. Gusto Gourmet is a must-try for anyone seeking a truly remarkable dining experience. I can't wait to return for another round of their...

As an avid foodie, it's not every day that I stumble upon a restaurant that truly captivates my taste buds. However, Gusto Gourmet "Fresh Fusion to Go" is a delightful exception. This charming, hole-in-the-wall eatery, nestled in the vibrant Upper Kirby area, offers a unique blend of Mediterranean and Venezuelan cuisine. My dining experience was kicked off by their Arepa Pabellón, a mouthwatering concoction of tender shredded beef, creamy black beans, ripe avocado, and melt-in-your-mouth hand cheese, all encased within a warm, handmade arepa. The flavors harmoniously danced on my palate, leaving me craving more. Equally impressive was La Pelua, a delectable arepa generously stuffed with succulent shredded beef, a medley of gooey shredded cheese, and a drizzle of homemade cilantro sauce. This heavenly delight was a perfect fusion of flavors and textures that left my taste buds singing. Be mindful of the street parking, but valet is available for those seeking convenience. Gusto Gourmet has undoubtedly earned a spot on my list of favorites. I eagerly anticipate my next visit!
