Our birthday girl picked this location to have her bday lunch at and we were all pretty excited. A lot of us haven't been to a Rouxpiur location for sometime. We attended on June 19, 2025 at lunch time. We arrive and got sat. Our server warren introduced himself and welcomed us. It wasn't busy inside and the establishment look clean and nice

Let's talk about the good: 1 star for The food: The food was amazing. When expect creole food this hit the spot. I ordered off the lunch menu and the pricing was quite decent. We all enjoyed our food. Even one got the house special for that day. Deviled eggs on point.

Another star for our server: Warren! You brought the Creole vibe and culture! You were upbeat, attentive, and made us feel as if we were dining in Louisiana. It was extra special because he is from Louisiana and so was our birthday girl.

Everything started going down hill once the cake celebration started. Warren got us to sing in a beautiful louisana style bday song and others in the restaurant joined in. In second nature fashion the bday girl proceeded to cut the cake after blowing her candles and was able to pass out 2 slices. At this point the manager, Mike Doyle, approached out table and started off with "Now I told y'all you can take pictures with the cake but you can not cut cake and eat the cake here. Now you can take it outside and eat it. It's a health violation. The owners would not like this and wants this to be and upscale restaurant." We all just looked at him like and we told him we didn't know. Mike Doyle said " did Warren tell you that you could? Because I will talk to him." We said warren didn't tell us anything and we didn't know to ask since other restaurants we have been have allowed up to have a cake.

We called Warren to apologize if we got him in trouble because that was not our intent.

It turns out that there is a big NO sign on the don'ts for the restaurant when you walk in but we didn't read it. As we walked in and asked for a table and got seated right away. However, these rules are not listed on their website so where is the notification ahead for those planning a special event !?

Apparently one of our colleagues who arrived late with the cake was who the manager spoke with but didn't tell the rest of the table. Therefore hi approach to the table by stating "I told y'all" was inaccurate. He told one person out of 7.

The Manager is was allowed no more stars for the place nor any repeat customers from at least 7 of us. Mike Doyle definitely needs to take a class on crucial conversations, as a manager should have managed up his employee instead of place blame, took no ownership because he said this is what the owner wants, and never provides an alternative other than we can go outside and eat the cake. First off his approach could have been handled better and allowed a birthday celebration to become a bad experience. Instead of coming to the table to acknowledge that we were there for a bday party and started off with - first off I want to say happy birthday and many blessings on another year but however our policy (if there is even one) stated no outside cakes to be consumed at our establishment. According to Mike Doyle the owners want this to be an upscale restaurant but at a mall location? Even on here the attire is listed as casual. I'll give kudos to Mike that he successfully in one conversation managed to make 7 people a no repeat customer.

I feel bad that Warren has a manager like him and deserves better. Unfortunately the only thing creole about that place is the food. Don't expect anything else.

We have other options in the area that will provide the creole ambience , creole vibe, and...

My mother and I went to Baybrook Mall with plans to simply have lunch and try a place neither of us had been before. Being a Jackson, MS native and New Orleans being so close to us, we have both had a fair share of cajun and creole cuisine, but this place rivals some of the best! The courtyard is beautiful, and they actually have two. One is off the front of the building and faces the parking lot, and the other looks out onto the beautiful green space/courtyard of the mall. They had the big French doors open to the inside of the restaurant, so even though we are still very covid cautious and only eat outside, we still felt like we were in the restaurant. The outside seats had cushions (YES!) so it was a very comfortable experience from the get-go. All staff members had masks out, and while our server was the only one who didn't have it above his nose, we still felt safe. We decided to go with a variety of small plates to try as many dishes from here as possible. While the wines by the glass menu was one of the best I have ever seen at a restaurant, I was not impressed by the beer list. Who cares though! This place is amazing. It was happy hour - its a LONG period of time here - so we decided to try the cajun deviled eggs with shrimp and sausage and a half dozen chargrilled oysters. We followed this with a cup of gumbo each - mine was seafood & sausage; mom's was chicken and sausage, and finished up the meal with a white chocolate bread pudding. Side note: One MAJOR positive thing of this restaurant is that our server never rushed us to finish or to order. He didn't even ask what we wanted to eat past the appetizers until AFTER we finished. We really appreciated this because it allowed us to enjoy our food and each other's company and to evaluate our appetite after each course. Deviled Eggs: Cooked perfectly, well seasoned, and the little piece of shrimp and sausage on top made it extra special. A southern girl, I have eaten PLENTY of deviled eggs in my 34 years of life, but these are THE. BEST I have ever eaten. Chargrilled Oysters: So much cheese and butter- like it should be! These were cooked to perfection and came with 3 pieces of French bread to which we used to soak up the butter and cheese left on the plate and to get the rest of the deviled egg mixture of its plate Gumbos - both had the same roux. It was PERFECT! So dark and rich, and the flavor was out of this world. The amount of meat in each bowl was more than I have ever seen in any serving I have received at a restaurant. Her's was great, but I still think mine was better. The seafood and sausage had large chunks of lump crab meat, about a dozen baby shrimp and lots of sausage. Each came with a slice of butter French bread to soak up the roux. I didn't like the green onion on top. It was too sharp of a taste and took away from the flavor, but it was easy to remove them once I realized this. I would definitely recommend ordering yours without. Bread Pudding: we were VERY full at this point, so we asked for the white chocolate bread pudding to go to have with our dinner. It was VERY dense for my liking (and moms) but the flavor was there. You could taste the alcohol in the whiskey cream sauce and the burst of flavor from the raspberry took away from the heaviness of the dish. You can count on...

If I could give this restaurant a five star on food and ambiance alone I would. Unfortunately the service was beyond deplorable! this was my and my fiancé‘s first time visiting this restaurant. It was a Saturday night. They had a band playing out in the courtyard ambience with great music , watching the children play was amazing while we sat and dined however, the server that we had was the worst I have ever encountered in any dining experience. I cannot remember his name, but he was a black gentleman who wore locs as a hair style was about 5’6 5’7 . My fiancé and I ordered drinks and the particular drinks we ordered had a liquor in it that he spoke of wanting or saving up to buy and hoped that we would tip him in cash so he can get closer to purchasing that bottle of liquor, which was turn off number one. Drinks came out. Food was great, but the drinks were too strong for our liking so we asked that he take them off our bill. The gentleman then proceeded to debate back-and-forth with my fiancé. My fiancé told him that he was a professional bartender, and that the drinks were too strong to enjoy, and before he could finish the waiter rudely and abruptly cut him off, and we were just sitting there astonished, he proceeded to snatch the drinks off the table and walk away. He did not asked us if we wanted to try another drink , just proceed to wait on other customers as if we were not there , we could easily walked off of the patio with out pay, that’s how long he ignored us. We had already finished our food and still he ignored us,so much so I walked inside of the restaurant to ask him to bring our ticket so we could leave . I also mentioned we had been waiting and that he could have offered us another drink we were not opposed to that,we just didn’t want an excessive amount of liquor in our drinks. He then said that we were not his only customers he has others and would bring our check in a minute, with a rude tone and harsh look. I won’t say we will not return again, because the food was delicious. But what I will say is that I would avoid this waiter at all cost, and if he was the only waiter in the entire restaurant, left to wait on my table I would never eat there. Food is great just steer clear...
