I’d been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, so my husband and I stopped by over the weekend for Houston Restaurant Weeks. For starters, I had the crispy smoked pork belly, which was absolutely delicious. I also tried the ribbon salad, it was light and refreshing, but not something I’d order again. My entrée was the Kahlua BBQ Pork Bowl (exclusive to the HRW menu), which was flavorful and fantastic, but the portion size was small, you’d get a bigger bowl at Chipotle. My husband ordered the Fish and Chips, which was very disappointing. The batter was very bland, no seasoning...a little salt would have worked wonders. This is definitely not the place to come for that dish. We also tried the Mai Tai, which tasted more like watered-down fruit juice than a cocktail. For dessert, we went with the peach cobbler, recommended by our server. Unfortunately, it wasn’t really a cobbler, it was a peach crumb. To make matters worse, there were only a few small slices of peach, with the dessert being almost entirely crumb topping. Definitely not what we expected. We sat on the back patio, which has rows of picnic tables. The atmosphere was casual, but not particularly comfortable. Overall, aside from the pork belly appetizer, the food and drinks didn’t live up to expectations, and the value just wasn’t there. Unfortunately, it’s not a place...

I've had a lot of good visits here but my last one was really poor. The food is solidly good and I've always loved the assortments of drinks. But my family's last visit following a funeral left a really poor taste in my mouth. Brought family here from out of town, and we sat on the patio as we had a larger group and couldn't find an indoor spot - not an issue - we knew we had no reservation and expected potentially sitting outside. There was one other small group of 2-3 on the patio. The flies swarming all over our food eventually became an issue. Completely understand that they can't control the flies outdoors in a Houston summer, but when I moved the outdoor fan ~2 inches to better control the swarms of flies I was immediately scolded condescendingly by staff.

Again, if there was anyone else out there or if it was busy I'd totally understand and wouldn't touch it, but we were a group of 10 (one other group of 2-3 had their own fan) who could hardly eat with how many flies were landing on our food.

Our server was overall great but we felt pretty ignored after we dare touch the sacred and holy fan. (again, I'd barely touched it and was trying to help the elderly folks in our family having to constantly swat flies on their food) I'll drop a few hundred bucks on dinner elsewhere next time the...

This place is not friendly to groups. We came in after work, unsure how many coworkers would drop by for drinks after the hurricane. No one asked us about the size of our group. We honestly didn’t know how many people would be able to come after the hurricane. We sat down and were told to move to the back (not asked, we were ordered) so we did to the back where our group of 8 had to squeeze onto a picnic table and bench. It was tight. We didn’t make a big deal and enjoyed our conversation and drinks. Then another coworker drops by and immediately we were rudely told we need to move outside. However, one person from the original party leaves so we can accommodate the new person and we were left alone. Well, this happens a second time. We are a pretty easy going group but everyone felt the same way about the service here.

Train your people to talk to your guest in a respectful tone or ask better questions so you can provide decent service. Asking us to move isn’t the issue. We get it. However, delivery of the ask is what we are getting at. Our bill was over $300 for only a short stint and gratuity was tacked on. Our company won’t choose that...
