Okay so let me begin by stating a thing that a lot of places do to get good reviews. Some places will give you a discount in exchange for your promise of a good review or they’ll give you something for free even. This usually happens the first time you try out what they have to offer whether it’s food or car service. I’m sure many of y’all have experienced this. I know I have. So then you feel obligated to do the good review since you accepted their offer…even if what they offered was not that great. Well let me tell you that is NOT the case with Amat Indian Cuisine. This review is completely voluntary and for me to write a review whether it’s good or bad, I have to REALLY either be impressed or unsatisfied. In this case, impressed. Definitely 2 thumbs up for this little hidden gem located out in Katy near I-10 and Barker Cypress. Indian food is my absolute favorite type of food ever. I’m a bit of a connoisseur as a matter of fact when it comes to this type of food. I live in Cypress and use Door Dash delivery quite a bit and to be honest with you, there is not a single Indian restaurant that I’ve tried that delivers to my area that has been worth a second time trying. I usually have to drive all the way to Memorial area to eat at Nirvana or Indias all the way out on Richmond or even Sitar way out in the Woodlands. No luck with Indian food around here. They’ve all been horrible! I had about given up until I decided to try this one last place, Amar Indian Cuisine. And let me tell you, they are one of the BEST in my opinion. Not only is their menu extremely affordable, but the food is phenomenal. They are definitely into NOT skipping out on going to the extreme when it comes to flavor and doing it right. Unlike many places who try to save money by using the minimal ingredients and spices. I never knew there was such a thing as bland Indian food until I moved to Cypress…until I discovered this place. They have perfected the art of combining rich seasonings, aromatic flavor, exotic spices and the freshest high quality meats and vegetables. This is good food for those that enjoy flavor. Also, they don’t cheat you by filling you full of salt and msg. After I eat here, I feel great. It’s actually healthy food because most of the spices used contain antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties. But point blank, hands down, this is my new go-to spot for delicious high quality Indian food near me. It’s the ONLY other place I’ve tried in Houston who makes their vegetable kofta the way I like it. I was really impressed by that. The only other place that does it right is India’s on Richmond. But that alone won me there. I highly recommend that by the way. In addition to many traditional Indian dishes, they also offer quite a few Indo-Asian fusion dishes as well. Chili chicken, chicken momo, chicken chow main - all new foods to me that I’ve never had before at an Indian restaurant that were really good too. Even their rice you get on the side with whatever you order is out of this world and can be ate totally by itself as a main dish. It’s not dry like at most places. Most places rice will choke you if you’re not careful. Lol. But yeah, in addition to the excellent quality of food and super affordable prices, they have the friendliest staff who’s kindness is sincere and genuine. It’s not fake or staged. I feel very welcomed and comfortable there. Also, the restaurant is beautiful, clean, elegant and borderline fancy/luxurious. They have a bar, an outside patio and a lunch buffet that I can’t wait to try very soon. So with all this said, go to this place if you want the best Indian food at an affordable price in Katy/Cypress. I highly recommend it. Two thumbs up. Kudos. 5 stars. They earned...
Read moreDINERS BEWARE! The worst experience I have had at an Indian restaurant. My husband and I visited this restaurant last weekend for the first time based upon the previous reviews. Do not go by these previous reviews. It was cold in the restaurant as if the heat was not on. Everyone was wearing coats in the restaurant. Even mentioned this to the server who claimed the heat was on. Very uncomfortable to wear a coat while dining.
Placed a drink order and it took quite a while to get our drinks. Had to ask for papad which also took a while. This restaurant cannot even make dal makhani. which restaurant doesn't know how to make a simple dal? Kadai paneer was tasteless. Malai kofta was ok. Food came without the bread order. Waited 10 minutes for the first bread and another 10 minutes for the second bread and all the while food was getting cold. On a cold evening, who wants to eat cold food? Kept having to look for the servers who are not paying attention throughout my entire dining experience. Asked server repeatedly about the bread who just stood there without an answer like she didn't hear us.
If you are vegetarian, do no eat here as the food is not authentic. Being Indian myself, this is not how Indian food should taste. You probably cook better Indian food at home - so save your money as this place is not cheap. I wish I could get my money back. Low quality and high prices. If I could give 0...
Read moreUnfortunately my last review was not taken well, as i was unhappy that the place was open but I was not able to eat. I already read another review stating the similar case and was unpleasantly surprised to had the similar experience.
Apparently from the owner's reply they had an emergency and my deepest condolences on their loss. I was asked to leave and I had my 2yr old daughter and wife along with me. We specifically drove 25mins to your place. I am a Punjabi DESI and im an affectionate/respecting/understanding person. If a reason would have been given then and there itself I would have understood, instead received an unwarranted response via reply to my older review.
To be fair I was not even remotely aware of the circumstances. I mean how could anyone else be?
Anyways, visited here for the second time and this time got an opportunity to sit and eat. One of the best Indian Punjabi style food. We ordered: Mango Lassi, Raspberry tea, Paneer Khurchan, Malai Kofta, Amritsari naan, garlic naan and veg biryani. With various tastes budds being brought live again the Malai kofta was very rich and delicious and my wife savored the paneer dish.
In all, Amar Indian Cuisine provides a pleasant ambience with good and fast service and WITH AMAZING FOOD (jaise pyaar se banaya ho). Will definately come again as the foodie couple we are provided if they...
