This was my second stay at this Hilton property. This stay was much better than the first. I have only 3 complaints. I'm an Honors member and use the app to check into Hilton properties every month. This property doesn't seem to honor the check in and I end up at the front desk every time waiting to check in and get a room key or a digital key sent to my phone. I select a room, get to the hotel (albeit later than I originally planned), go to the room only to find out the digital key doesn't work, then haul my stuff back to the front desk to "check in" again. Pretty annoying, when the app is supposed to check you in and deliver a room key upon arrival. My app just told me the room wasn't ready, but this was 7pm. I have been 'upgraded' from a standard king with sofa to a studio suite on both visits, which is nice.
Breakfast: there are options, but the food just doesn't taste very good. Eggs are blah. Meat options are not great. I got yogurt everyday but it's pre-packaged, so not a lot to mess up there. The guys who work in that area, work hard and are very friendly.
This hotel charges for parking. I don't get it. It's suburban and there is plenty of parking in this area from the nearby shops, to other hotels to the hospital across the street. But still, hotel management just wants to milk that last dollar from guests. I never saw security monitoring the lot...and I look many times throughout my stay at various hours.
Vincento at the front desk is a nice guy and the best employee I've encountered at this property. Someone needs to promote him. There is another front desk clerk who works overnight. She was efficient when I asked for room keys that work (neither key I was given worked, but thankfully my digital key did when I went down the hall for ice). But she wasn't very friendly and I tried to smile and make a joke. She wasn't having it. Room is clean. Location is ok (Starbucks on the same street).
I'll stay here again, except for that pesky app that seems to work at every other Hilton property except this one and the stupid parking fee, but next month, I'm staying at a different Hilton property down the street. They don't charge for parking and the app checks you in and provides a key upon your arrival, just as it should. *UPDATE Stayed 2 more times at this hotel since this review. Hotel changed both reservations and I ended up in smaller rooms or paid more. I'm done. I like Hilton and stay at lots of Hilton brand rooms, but this hotel has really pissed me off. I'm going to...
Read moreI checked in digitally. Chose a room. Then got a message on my Hilton app to stop at the front desk. I did. Checked in and they put me in a larger room. That was nice, BUT, they also charged me an additional $100.00. I went upstairs and checked my app again, looking for a digital key and noticed I was overcharged compared to my reservation. So I pulled up the confirmation email and went back downstairs. Vicento changed the rate to match my original rate. |I travel for my job and get approval for reimbursement on hotel expenses before I arrive to the hotel. When the hotel changes the rate or adds fees not on the reservation, it messes with my ability to get reimbursed and sadly takes time to resolve. |When I checked out 4 days later, they included a parking fee which isn't a lot, but unnecessary as this is a suburban hotel. The Courtyard next door charges the same parking fee, but the Residence Inn across the street doesn't. I never saw a security guy in the lot. I saw a review of 2 cars with wheels stolen and left on blocks in their parking lot. |Had Hilton just been upfront with me, I would have left my car at work down the street and hitched a ride; which most nights, a coworker drove me to dinner and other places anyway. This hotel can do better. Be transparent. |The room was nice and clean. Breakfast was just ok, despite very nice guys who work in the breakfast area. Just wished the food tasted better. |I did not use the gym, but it looked ok. I did not use the laundry, but it looked ok too. |Housekeeping left only decaf coffee with the coffee maker. Luckily, there is a Starbucks right down the street (within walking distance). |This is a good hotel, but not in a prime location - and not worth a parking fee. There was a homeless guy living in his car in the parking lot under my window. Not sure why I had to pay for him to stay there. One night, he was up late (until 2 or 3am) cleaning out his car with the radio on. I should have photographed him. |I'm going to try this hotel again, but I don't feel confident as I make the reservation. |Come on Hilton. It felt like you changed my room rate to make a few extra dollars. |If you book here, keep a copy of your reservation showing a breakdown of the room rate. No need to be surprised. |If you don't like paying to park overnight in a lot with a homeless guy living there, then leave your car elsewhere...
Read moreI like the staff at this hotel. Bridgett and Vincento at the front desk are awesome. I fell at the back door on a trip here about 2 months ago. Vincento got some bandages for me and took care of me until I could get to a pharmacy. |Bridgett is super nice and funny. |I had some maintenance issues with the tv on arrival. I chatted on the Hilton Honors app and maintenance was in my room repairing the dish network quickly. The maintenance guy was super nice. |Just a couple of minor issues: |Ice machines on levels 1 and 2 still do not work. This has been an ongoing issue for some months. You will need to go to floor 3 or 4 for ice. |Room 141, the window shade on one window is missing. Morning sun will wake you up. |Room 141, mattress is saggy in the middle. Time to replace it. |Breakfast bar waffle makers have been replaced with new models, but the waffles are now so super thin. It's weird. Breakfast has always been an issue at this property. Just not very good. Eggs are super weird. Either rubbery or watery and they don't taste good. Opt for yogurt and a blueberry bagel. |Room 141, the air con had some vanilla wafers stuck down in the vents. If I were a kid, that's where I'd put my cookies too. |Maintenance was working on a washer or dryer on my first day. 4 days later, the sign still showed that the laundry is out of order. |I think there were some posts about car break ins. I did notice new solar cameras at the entrance of the hotel and new yellow gates blocking some incoming traffic. |A Houston Police Dept vehicle sat outside my window on a Friday night at midnight with lights on for about an hour. Maybe just as a deterrent. I had no issues with vehicle break in, but I also did not park in the rear of the hotel. I don't believe there are cameras back there. |Good stay. No...
