We used to be regular customers here, but stopped going when they reopened from the pandemic because the service was slow (and rude) and the food quality had deteriorated. However, we decided last night to give them another try. Our food was good and our waiter was attentive. However, we arrived at 8:30, received our food around 8:45, and when we asked for a second beer right around 9 PM (closing time), we were told by the manager, Hector, that they couldn't serve us because they were "closed". We felt rushed and packed up our food and left. On the way to our car, the security guard, a relative of the manager, asked why we were upset and we told him. He recommended that we speak to "Pedro" and he would "make it right". So this morning, we did speak to Pedro. We got a call back from Cindy (another manager, I assume) who apologized, but was full of excuses and reasons for the behavior of her manager. She also accused my husband of calling the manager a rude name, which didn't happen. You may also know that they offer complimentary ice cream. As we were leaving, my husband stopped to get some ice cream. The cones were in a box - not a dispenser - and had to be pulled out in a stack to pick one. This is not a great idea when COVID is still present, nor is it sanitary in the best of times. Further, the ice cream was basically liquid. My husband discussed this with Cindy, and she stated that they shut the machine down 30 minutes prior to closing to defrost it. Is this even safe? Does the ice cream reach a temperature that isn't healthy? She had no good reason for the cones being in the box and accessible to everyone's dirty hands. It's definitely safe to say that this is the last chance we'll give Tia Maria and good luck to those of you who choose...
Read moreI went here on a Saturday night as my brother and I were craving Mexican food. We were in the area and have heard SOOOOO many good things about this place from friends, so we decided that we needed to check it out.
We were seated immediately. We were looking to see what beers they had & how the margaritas were made (don't like sweet & sour mix 🤮), but there wasn't a list on the menu or any handout at the table. The granddaughter of the owner answered all of our drink questions (we really aren't high maintenance, but we felt like it!), and we apologized to her for being so high-maintenance. She was extremely friendly and laughed. The entire staff that we interacted with were just awesome.
I had two "skinny" margaritas w/ patron silver and whew - those bad boys were good! I had the fajita beef nachos and they too were excellent. Every chip had something on it. I hate when you order nachos and you're left with a pile of chips underneath with nothing on them/to put on them. I wanted to order something else as the nachos were an appetizer that we shared, but we were both full! I did however find room for some tres leches. I've never had it before, so I wanted to give it a try. It was SO good!! I don't have any others to compare it to, but I ate it all.
I can tell you that this place definitely lived up to the hype. I'll definitely be back when I'm craving...
Read moreHeading back from Hobby Airport at 4:30 pm during the beginning of rush hr traffic near 290 & 610 I knew I would have to detour under the newly constructed intersection heading northwest if I wanted to avoid stop & good traffic. FOOD was the only thing outside of a flying car that I could wish for at the moment so I googled "HAPPY HOUR NEARBY" & This place popped up. First thought of course margaritas! The second thing was I hoped they were worth stopping for & I hope the food was fresh! Considering the ALMOST (you can never have too many tacos) obnoxious amount of Mexican & Tex- Mex food to be found in Houston TX, this place stands out! The quality quantity freshness & taste of the food compared to cost is hands down 5 stars worthy. We ordered the mixed fajitas & beef burrito as well as the house margaritas. The chips & sauce give a perfect introduction of what to expect from the main entree. The chips and salsa delivered just as soon as we were seated both warm & fresh!. The fajitas came out sizzling HOT with freshly made bread and all the accessories to pile on top. The margaritas were perfect and even though it was a "house" mix it didn't taste weak. The servers were attentive, the restaurant was clean & I managed to only spend around $30.00 including 20% gratuity. That was my 1st time visiting & ill...
