This authentic Sichuan restaurant has been open for a while and I have been hearing a lot of good things about it. Finally, it’s Friday afternoon, we made it to the China town. Upon entering the restaurant, I’m positively impressed by the decor. It has the heavy metal Sichuan hardcore feel as well as the flavor of the laid back culture of chengdu. It clashes but mixed well. We ordered the spicy pepper chicken which is a famous Sichuan local dish and ultimately would test the chef’s authenticity in Sichuan flavors. I must say it is delicious, well balanced between the peppery spiciness and the green peppercorn’s numbness. The chicken is nicely stir fried with a hint of marination from Sichuan spicy sauces. The next dish is the famous green peppercorn fish stew. It is the most popular dish of the restaurant and you will instantly know why as soon as you took a bite of it. The dish is also complimented by black fungi, bamboo shoots and bean curds. Delicious in taste, but yet nutritious in health. We also ordered a cold dish to start with. It is the “black and blue” (as I like to call it) preserved eggs with green peppers. The dish is normally an acquired taste for people outside of the region, but the chef made it much more acceptable for the general public, but still kept its authentic taste and feel to it. The most pleasant dish is in fact the peanut pre-starter that the restaurant gave as a complimentary dish. The peanuts were fried crispy first and then marinated with a sweet and spicy sauce. It is indeed very different than your ordinary Sichuan peanut snack. It made our wine and beer go down really fast. Our server is knowledgeable and attentive. Overall, it was an excellent meal and definitely worthy of...
Read moreThis Triple Pepper is located in Bellaire right near Hmart. There was plenty of parking/seating space when my friends and I visited on a Friday night. The restaurant had a nice interior and the bathrooms were also clean.
Mapo Tofu This is a dish that I always order at every Chinese restaurant and the one here did not disappoint. The tofu was silky and the meat sauce was savory and had good mala spice- so delicious!
Sauteed Green Bean A classic Chinese vegetable dish that you can’t go wrong with! I enjoyed the seasoning and minced pork.
Fish Fillet With Rattan Pepper The fish was tender & flaky and the dish had plenty of other toppings like tofu skin, mushrooms, veggies, etc.
Chilli Pepper w/ Wonton The wonton wrapper, filling, and veggies were all fantastic. No complaints.
Spicy Crispy Chicken Aside from the Mapo Tofu, this was probably my favorite dish of the night! The chicken was perfectly crispy, juicy, and had the numb spice that was just so addicting
The meal came with a big bowl of rice and peanuts for appetizers. Aside from the delicious food, the service was quick and price-wise, it wasn’t bad at all! If you are in the area and you’re craving good, spicy Chinese food, give Triple...
Read moreI believe we tried it for the first time after seeing it open this year and hearing it get a good review. The cuisine is Mala Sichuan, which is a numbing spice that was surprising and really flavorful compared to other mala I had in Houston.
We had the Wonton for appetizer which was a pork filling, it was filling for just dumpling. Not too spicy but has a good seasoning.4/5 We order deep-fried intestine super delicious and definitely be careful of all the peppercorn. They deep-fried the peppercorn so it has a crunchy texture. The spicy crisp chicken was my husband favorite, it had the best crunch and the spicest dishes we got. The deep-fried shrimp ball was similar in flavor to the spicy chicken. Our last dish was the green beans, that came with ground pork and fried pork belly. Super flavorful and salty which is perfect with white rice. The service was good since we went on a weeknight so it was slow. I would definitely come back to try...
