Porky’s Ribs & Shakes — Restaurant in Howard

This place had a couple of minor downsides, but overall they definitely deserve 5 stars.

Good stuff: Lovely staff, clean store, fresh food, quick service. The brisket is the absolute STAR from what we ordered, with the chicken coming in close behind. It was SO GOOD and just fell apart on the fork. Like holy heck, awesome brisket!! The ribs were good too; a little small but I figure it is because of food costs lately.

Could have been a lil better: Perhaps it's personal preference but I like a bit more sauce on my ribs. HOWEVER, the flavor was so good I didn't mind as much as I usually would, so I can see why they keep it light; it really showcases the meat as a stand alone. Other than that, would have liked a lil bit bigger of a portion on the sides, but again, I know food costs are what they are these days.

First few times was just dude and his son handling EVERY thing and it was awesome despite being sold out of chicken every time. Until about 2 weeks ago. Found out why it's always sold out. Now he's got a solid crew and the service is kind and quick and the food is no-nonsense and absolutely delicious! The spare rubs, BB ribs, and chicken are phenomenal. Havent had brosket or pulled pork but wife said that too was awesome. Love it there and wish it was closer to home. Restaurant is small, always clean and comfortable. Got to enjoy some old live Stevie Ray Vaughan jams last time as well which was great for me. Just went again Nov 30 and got some BB Ribs and chicken, beans and fries to go. STILL,...

Wow, a new rib and shake place in Howard! We stopped by at lunchtime to give them a try. The staff was super friendly and helped us make a decision, although everything looked great. I tried the burnt ends, my wife tried the brisket, we were both delighted with the food. The atmosphere is that of a boutique place, just big enough to hold a few groups, with a fun floor design and jazz playing on the big screen.
