Naturally Delightful - Specialty Bakery — Restaurant in Howard

When I heard about Naturally Delightful, I knew I had to support them. I love the idea of a gluten free and vegan bakery to service those who are allergic to gluten and those who are vegan. I bought chocolate chip cookies and donuts. The chocolate chip cookies were tasty but dry, and the donuts were really sweet but great texture. The reason why I gave this bakery a 2 star is because of the customer service. When I walked into the bakery, 4-5 ladies behind the counter said nothing to me. Since no one greeted me, I had to introduce myself. I told them I was interested in trying their baked goods and one of the ladies said, "you can look at our menu." Instead of having the baked good in a display case they are bagged up and scattered the treats on shelves and tables. I don't mind that but I had no clue what I was looking at being a new customer and some guidance would had been nice. I also got some really odd looks from some of the ladies.

If you need gluten free or vegan desserts, this would be the place for you but don't be surprised by the...

Also ordered a circular 3-layer strawberries&cream vanilla cake with mango jam and buttercream frosting... The baker said she accidentally made the cake diameter too small so she just gave me an extra layer to make up for it (which was fine by me). There wasn't much "strawberries & cream" flavor - why I only gave 4 stars - but the cake still tasted really good. The amount of frosting to cake was well proportioned also. I've had other cakes where the amount of frosting was just so overwhelming but that wasn't the case here.

Let me tell you something. These sugar cookies are absolutely DIVINE. Eating them was a spiritual experience, I swear. They are perfect. I never even had a glutenous sugar cookie this good pre-Celiac diagnosis. They will bring you to tears.

Also not to be missed is the fruit pizza. Pre-Celiac, I lived in France and was obsessed with raspberry tartlettes. When people ask me what food I miss the most, that's it. Haven't had anything close in 13 years. The fruit pizza might actually be better than my favorite raspberry tartlette....
