Nagoya Sushi & Hibachi — Restaurant in Howell Township

I order from this place at least 2-3x a week. Everything has always been ON POINT and EXCELLENT. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get, especially on the Bento Boxes. (My personal fave) Plus, they do allow substitutions, which allows you to switch it up. (Just pay a dollar or two extra). Totally reasonable. Food has always been fresh and prepared fast. I have been a loyal customer for months now, (shortly after they opened) and have never been disappointed. Even when they are really busy. Food is still fresh, and still prepared in a timely manner. They know me by first name basis by now. Also - You have the option to order online, which I LOVE! My only grievance is they don't do delivery. I would LOVE to not have to leave my house to pick it up. Trust me, I am a hard girl to please, and if my only complaint is they don't have delivery, my suggestion to you would be to stop reading this review, and go eat...

Nagoya has been good in the past for us, but we got dinner last night and it was terrible. Walking into the restaurant there was an overwhelming smell of bleach in the entry… which I guess at least theoretically means something was clean. It was enough to make me feel sick from the smell though. After getting our food the chicken was flavorless and tough to the point of being inedible. My scallops were poor quality and drenched in what tasted like watered down soy sauce. So much so that it actually took away from any flavor the overcooked veggies and scallops might’ve had. My wife brought her steak home and added her own sauce and warmed it up in the stove since they failed to make it teriyaki steak. Been here twice, first time was a very positive experience. The food was very good and the staff was attentive. The second time, the food was ok and the staff was lazy/didn’t seem to care. The waitresses put food down at one side of the table and expected us to pass it down along with not remembered who ordered what. They also brought food out one by one which is completely wrong, my poor father had to wait 10-15 minutes before getting his sushi while everyone else eats. You’re suppose to time the dishes so everyone gets their food at the same time, the order was also wrong because the waitress didn’t listen to what he requested.
