Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Howell Township

I never really had a problem with this restaurant and I've been going here ever since it opened up a couple years ago. The only real complaint I had that the service was slower than a herd of snails traveling through peanut butter. Other than that the food was mediocre and it was an alright place until today. Today, me and friends decided to take a trip over to this local Sonic because we had a case of the munchies. There was no one when we got there(now I know why). We approach the menu out in front of the store and were all talking, discussing what we should get. From out of no where some lady walks out the front door who looks like she was in her mid 30's and was probably one of the managers. She nastily told us "we can't have you guys here if your just gonna sit around and talk and not order anything". We were only there for about a minute just contemplating about what we were going to eat and she's says this to us. We replied "were just looking at the menu and we were gonna order stuff". After that we order the food like we had a fire under our A**'s cause we felt rushed. My friend proceeds to press the order button and place his order. We get a "hello, welcome to Sonic how can I take your order". My friend places his order than silence. We all looked at each other confused, like we were all thinking that the mic she was talking into broke? Than after a minute of waiting she replies "would you like fries or tots with that?". My friend says he would like fries would that. Again another minute of silence. Every single one of my friend's orders after that was the same exact thing of awkward pauses between questions. When it was my turn to go, they took my order with awkward pauses in between and everything and then the lady on the mic said my total was $17.00. At first I thought she said my total was $2.00 so I said jokingly "two bucks, I wish" . Then all of sudden the lady who came out and yelled at us before budded into the mic and said "no need for the sarcastic comment sir, if you guys can't act like normal customers you can leave" through the speaker. After that we were scared to even take a breath cause we felt like our every word was being listened to. Sitting there in silence for about 10 minutes, our food comes out. They screwed up my order, they forgot to give my friend a spoon to eat with, and it looked like a monkey made my burger. After we finished eating, a kid who worked there came out heavy breathing, had feet pointing the opposite direction, and looked Jewish. I asked him "by any chance can I have your manager's name?" he just kept on walking to his car shrugging me off. I have never been so mistreated at a fast food joint before. I'm not sure how they do things over at the Sonic but all I know is that if I ever treated a customer like that at my store, one of my manager's would give me an ear full. It's like their trying to drive customers away. Well if that's what their trying to do, they succeeded causing I'm never gonna go back to that place again. A little tip of advice, If you ever want to get some fast food you should go to the McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, or any other fast food joint in the area. Over there you'll get mediocre service and food but at least you won't feel like an Jackass after ordering and have your meal as...

They deserve negative stars. This used to be one of the best places to eat in Howell, but we just spent $36 (no longer any military discounts) and there was literally nothing done correctly or fresh in our order. My burger was supposed to have no onions or pickles, they were present. My kids were supposed to have no cheese on their burgers, both had it. The fries were all old and dry, the tater tots were SUPER old and stale and warmed under a heater for my husband's chili cheese tots. By the way, there's barely any chili on them either. Oh and the chili cheese hot dog he got? I guess they didn't even bother to eat up the hot dog and figured the chili cheese would heat it up. Also we got charged for a medium fry and medium chedr poppers and only got smalls for everything. And we hoped at least our drinks would be good but my husband's root beer was mixed with Dr. Pepper, and all 3 cherry limeades were just pink colored limeades...

For the sake of your pocket, your food experience, and your sanity. Don't eat here, especially if you expect a decent meal even for a chain.

The shakes are cheap with a military discount or after 8pm, but I wouldn't go again. Ive tried more interesting shakes at Shake Shack or Black Tap.

If you like any generic icecream mixed into a shake with toppings like Oreo or Reese's Sonic is a good cheap place to go to especially if you can get it half off. They also have an EXTREMELY LARGE "large" size. It's like a Dunkin donuts large but for a milkshake. If you are looking to gain weight for cheap or just want a lot of icecream their shakes are 👌

But if you are looking for milkshake that's a little bit more interesting and more flavorful I would probably go somewhere else. Maybe the extra couple of bucks are worth splurging for a good milkshake. If you're going to gain weight by eating something unhealthy like a milkshake at least make sure you thoroughly enjoy doing it.

Overall decent shakes especially based on their half price special, but I wouldnt buy their shake again because there are better...
