Panera Bread — Restaurant in Howell Township

Eat here if you like surprises. Want to order a steak and egg, but actually receive a bacon and egg? How about ask for no cheese, but because they are so genorous, they give it to you anyway! There has not been one single order that they haven't screwed up somehow. If you call to straighten it out, the managers couldn't care any less. They also don't offer free pastries (when they mess up), like the receipt says or I'd have my own bakery's worth of items. We used to be regular patrons for lunch, but it became too much of a hassle. After months, we have decided to try breakfast here and they've messed up three days in a row. One of those days the cashier yelled at us and another customer. This morning they gave me the wrong sandwich (see above), but I'm just going to starve and cut my losses instead. I give up.

Last night I had the worst experience I have ever had any Panera. My husband went to get me a Fuji apple salad at the Howell location. I always loved the salad and was looking forward to eating it. When he got home I took the cover off and noticed that the lettuce had a strong odor. I ignored it and put the dressing on. I lifted up one of the apples to eat it and it was limp in my hand. I usually enjoy crunching on them but there was no crunch to be had then I noticed that the lettuce was limp, it was not fresh, not even close to fresh. I called the location and asked to speak to the manager, DAVID. He told me that his romaine is always fresh and he highly doubted my experience so I told him I’d be right in. He contradicted me three times during the course of our conversation. He was not a professional. He even insulted me. I asked for my money to be refunded, he asked me how I paid for it. I used to like coming here but now I try to avoid it all together. Some how, some way the order usually gets screwed up. The apples are always kind of soft. The amount of meat they put on the sandwich is pretty small but not all the time. It seems to me that the staff working here would much rather talk and joke with each other rather than work, that thing they get paid for. I suspect that is why the order is usually wrong. One time they called my name, the person i came to had used the restroom so I got the food, there was an extra container of soup so i thought he ordered it. Soon realized it wasn't mine, so brought it up and they were telling the people at the counter that someone probably stole it. I apologized and said I didn't know because it was with everything else in my order.
