Unique gem in downtown Howell!

I must say that my husband and I are coffee snobs and their coffee has been hands down the best I've ever had.

What sets this coffee shop apart from others in the area is the fact that they roast their own coffee in-house allowing you to buy their freshly roasted beans and grounds that the owner has roasted himself. This is in addition to serving up their delicious coffees, lattes, baked cookies etc. at the shop. They also uniquely use ceramic coffee mugs in-house helping reduce the use of plastics/toss away cups (although they have to-go cups if you are grabbing a coffee on the go).

Practice patience, as they just opened and do not yet have a full staff. I hope the city sees what a gem this...

Black iron is absolutely the cutest, kindest, and most DELICIOUS coffee shop in Howell. From my very first visit where I accidentally stayed till just past closing and they didn’t make me feel rushed or like a bother, to my now multiple visits a week where they remember my name, my job, and even my favorite kind of weather, I am blown away by the customer service. They NEVER get my order wrong, and their selection of homemade syrups is to die for. Their teas, espresso, lemonades, matcha, everything is made so well and I rarely have something I’m not keen on. And even if that does happen, they are the sweetest of you ask For something else or something to be added. This is my absolute favorite hang out spot!...

Love the coffee here. So good. Black Iron definitely makes a good cup of coffee. The friendliness of the staff could be a growth point of the business, to be honest. I would not be surprised if people choose to go elsewhere because of weird interactions with the staff. Nearly every time I go staff have been terse to the point of being rude and not really friendly. No smiles, no how are you... Even with no one behind me and the closing time far out the people asking for my order have come across unnecessarily impatient. So maybe don't dine in because the people working there don't seem to like customers & it feels like they hate you haha. But they do have amazing lattes, so...
