The location of this Bob Evans is convenient to I-70 and there is a Wal-Mart just behind it if you need to make your weekly grocery stop. The staff is friendly overall; although we have had a few experiences where the service was a bit slow. It seems that when they "get in the weeds", they panic instead of pushing through with determination. However, there are a few servers who are top-notch and we try to get them every time. I remember faces...I will try to get names next time we are there. The restaurant itself is in decent condition, but the bathrooms almost always need attention at the times I have been there. Last week I placed a carry out order for a salad and was told it would be 15 minutes...but it was half an hour and no apologies were made (even though it was clear they realized the wait was longer than anticipated). I say all this to say, would we return? Most likely, yes, because it is convenient and we do like the food there; especially the salads and the breakfasts. I need to learn patience anyway. UPDATE 6/21/2019 - When we walked in, they weren't busy at all, but they must have had a rush prior to our arrival because the floors had smashed food and pieces of trash all over, including under every table we could see from where we were seated (including ours). The server was nice when she approached the table and took our drink orders. She even brewed a fresh pot of decaf coffee for us. After about 25 minutes, we asked about the coffee, she seemed flustered, but brought two mugs filled and a small coffee pot for the table, but it didn't have a top/lid. We inquired about one and she was snippy about it; said something like, well, ok, I'll just take it away then. A few minutes later she returned with the pot with a dish over the top because they no longer have lids for their pots. Our food came shortly after. My order was a chicken salad plate with fresh fruit and my husband had his usual, the Wildfire Chicken Salad. He said his was ok, but the price seems to continue to rise despite the face that the quality and size of the salad doesn't seem to improve. The chicken salad plate comes with fresh fruit, including pineapple, to which I am allergic, so I asked if another fruit could be added in place of the pineapple. When the plate came, it didn't have pineapple (thank you!), but no extra fruit was on there; it was obvious the other fruit was just spread out on the plate to make it appear like there was more fruit. Half the strawberries had dark and mushy areas on them and some of the grapes were mushy as well. The chicken salad alone was very good! The banana bread was delicious too. When we were at the counter to pay, the young man asked how everything was and we were kindly honest in that the service was a bit slow and the restaurant was dirty with food, etc. He right away came back with the excuse that, "well, they may have just had a rush before you got here". I just said it wasn't up to the standards we have seen before. Right before we left, he apologized to us and told us to have a good night. Honestly, as a restaurant manager myself many years ago...you don't make excuses, you don't tell the customer how they should view things, you ask what was wrong and try to make it right. Not by monetary means necessarily, but an excuse just wasn't what we were looking for when he asked us how things were. Sadly, this is the third or fourth less than exemplary experience we have had here...we are running out of restaurants in Huber Heights that offer good food and service! (Other than Texas Roadhouse, which has NEVER let us...
Read moreWe live 1 hour round trip… typically we always eat at home but it was Sunday, we were doing house chores and i wanted to do something nice for my boyfriend, get his favorite dish at bob evans.. drove 30 min, didnt even get greeted, they did not have a host or anyone up front. I went to the cashier side after waiting a little and told them i had a to go order. I believe i spoke with a server, she got done with doing her job duties and kindly helped me.. everything was checked off on the receipt so she handed me my bag, after 45 min of sunday morning traffic, i got home and realized one meal was not even in the big bag that they gave us… we got two meals… i cant understand how difficult it is to put items in a bag while youre checking them off… crazy… this is 100% on the management. Especially not even having a host, thats crazy. So we call, after an hour and the gal tells us she send us a gift card (dont even know if im speaking to a manager.. no introduction at all) ….. girl what? We live an hour round trip and you want me to come back for a gift card? To spend more money at your establishment? No thanks… so now my boyfriend who was supposed to have the nice surprise, is driving an hour to go pick up the rest of my meal… instead of eating his warm meal… tragic. I understand things happen, but the fact that it was checked off, and receipt was stapled to the...
Read moreI've gone two weekends in a row - walked in and made eye contact with a waitress and was ignored (same waitress the different weeks). Their regulars come in and they're immediately greeted, etc. Unless you're a regular, they don't care about you. The waitress I had the second time acted as though it was a chore to bring out more water even though it was at the end of the meal and she hadn't checked on us during the meal. Just disappointing service.
Update about a year later: Same waitress seated us and said she'd bring another set of utensils. After our food arrived, I had to ask our waitress for another set of silverware as Mary never brought it back. While our waitress was grabbing that, Mary came by as she was seating others and asked if we got silverware. That SHE SAID SHE WOULD BRING. After the meal, she was running the register and stared at the pinpad to see what type of tip I was leaving for our waitress. She has been so rude anytime I go in that I now feel as though it is a personal issue with us and we are singled out any time we go. I've reached out the GMs to discuss her behavior and over a year later she's still there. I don't know how many discussions it takes to be treated with an ounce of respect. We're not regulars, we go every few months, but every time we go and Mary is there, it is NEVER a...
