âď¸âď¸ (2/5)
I wanted to love this place, and in some ways I did â but the service just didnât match the quality of the food and wine. One star is for the food itself: fresh, flavorful, and undeniably good. The other is for the women on staff who carried themselves with thoughtfulness and professionalism, which added warmth to the atmosphere. The wine selection also deserves a mention â excellent variety, quality pours, and truly one of the highlights of the evening.
Our party originally reserved for 10 guests but ended up with 12. Thankfully, we were already seated at a table that could accommodate us and just needed two extra chairs added at the ends. I notified both the server and the hosts of this early on. However, when the final two ladies arrived, we were met with the response, âOh, so you do need two extra chairs.â That lack of attentiveness was frustrating, especially since the reservation had been made in advance.
All 12 of us were very satisfied with the taste of the food â there are definitely some real rock stars in the kitchen turning out great flavors. The presentation didnât hit the mark, but Iâll take taste over presentation any day of the week. I also appreciated the intentional effort in how our entrĂŠes were brought out in sequence, so everyone at the table was served within moments of each other â a detail that didnât go unnoticed. Truthfully, I wouldâve loved to write a review centered around the taste of the food, but unfortunately, I have to put our disappointing service experience at the forefront.
From the start, the server never greeted me or the arriving guest, and only engaged after I asked for menus. Service throughout the night felt detached and inattentive. Our group ordered wine flights, which meant we each had three glasses at a time, yet I had to request that empty glasses be cleared on three separate occasions. Plates and drinks were also repeatedly handed across guests instead of being placed properly, which disrupted not only the flow of the meal but also our conversations. I even privately asked our server if they could please mention to the staff running food to be mindful of not reaching across patrons when setting down plates. Not long after that request, I was handed a glass of wine with the comment âPrincess.â
Because our server had not established any kind of rapport or welcoming tone with our table, the remark felt dismissive and unprofessional. In another context, maybe it could have come across as playful â but paired with the inattentiveness we experienced all evening, it left a sour impression. It does make me wonder if the automatic 20% gratuity influenced the level of attentiveness we received.
The food and wine were undeniably good, and the intentional kindness of the women working was a bright spot. But overall, the service at our table fell short enough that, despite the flavors, I wouldnât...
Read moreIm very surprised with all the 5 star reviews on here for foxcroft. For Birkdale, there are enough options now for drinks and dinner to have this many things wrong and compete long term.
Atmosphere: The lights inside are ABSURDLY bright. Does not give off any wine bar ambiance. If your restaurant is more bright than Cheesecake Factory, you need to take a hard look at that. Looking for darker place to relax and have some wine? Patio at night right? Wrong. They have literal spotlights on the edge of the roof facing the tables. It seems so odd to me they insist on the brightest atmosphere possible. That part was definitely unfortunate. Also the frozen margarita machine in the bar was so loud. I know it sounds like Iâm extra here. But dead serious, if youâre sitting near it, it sounds like a jet engine that kicks on every 2 mins. Iâm just overall disappointed with the atmosphere, especially if you are looking for a more relaxed cute date night. We didnât sit in the restaurant (only patio and bar area) but the lighting concerns prevailed through whole restaurant.
Servers: All of them are amazing. So friendly and knowledgeable and they were all so so so great and accommodating.
Food: Very hit or miss. The charcuterie board was very thrown together. Just stacked pepperoni and salami in a pile. No real effort in styling it or making it look visually appealing. It was fine- but again just odd to me that wouldnât be more focused on a quintessential staple of a wine bar.
Truffle fries were good- but itâs fried potatoâs with cheese and whipped mayo, I would hope they are good. No shade, just saying lol
Rigatoni was very good- rich, creamy, little spicy, great texture balance between noodles and crisped edge sausage. This was a home run
Doughnuts- they were fine fresh, and fluffy. Clearly put effort into them, good balance between sweet and savory. Great way to top of meal for sweet tooth, but wouldnât say âwowâ you have to try these.
Overall experience was fine, I wouldnât call this a traditional âwine barâ. I would call it more a suburban restaurant that serves wine, and you can get food there too if you want. I think itâs trying to appeal to every demographic, which is understandable,...
Read moreI am very upsetâŚjust walked out of the restaurant. A place Iâve been coming to since it opened and even go out of my way to come eat here even by myself. 11/06/2025 the hostess is so rude. And her appearance very unpleasant also. I walked in and I was on the phone with my sister but put my phone to the side to speak to her, but she however, ignored me and spoke over me to the people that came in after me. Then told me âonce you hang up I can seat youâ what ?? Who tells people they need to hang up to be seated. I told her I was not going to hang up the call and she repeated herself I told her then I only needed to be pointed to a table thenâŚshe told me ok grab a menu and seat at the bar as she was walking out to seat the party that came in after me. I grabbed the many and sat my self at table, she went to the bar and was telling the server what happened and someone else that was there. No one went to greet me or anything for 10 minutes so I walked out, as I am walking out no one said anything or even made eye contact. I am coming here to eat to take a break from my busy day, instead I left upset and hungry. Very dissatisfied and disappointed that a great restaurant like this is loosing clients because a hostess takes things so personal and takes it up on herself to let me know she is offended and I am being punished by my actions, thatâs why she was not seating me. No good not...
