I decided to try Akuma with my daughter based on the great reviews, but unfortunately, we never even got the chance to dine in due to the terrible customer service.
When we walked in, we saw a sign instructing guests to write their name and party size, then wait outsideāso we followed the instructions. I wrote my name down, noted that our party was two, and stepped outside as directed. Inside, there were multiple empty tables, aside from two that were occupied. It was clear the restaurant was not busy.
As we waited outside, we saw the waitress come from the back to serve a table. She glanced in my direction but never acknowledged us. She didnāt step outside to check if we were waiting to dine in, nor did she ask if we needed assistance. We arrived at 8:30 PM and waited until 8:55 PM, yet not once did anyone come out to check on us.
What made the situation worse was that right before we left, a gentleman walked in, pointed at the sign, and the waitress told him, āYou can sit anywhere.ā Even then, she still didnāt acknowledge us outside. At that point, we decided to leave.
This was one of the worst customer service experiences Iāve had. If your restaurant has a policy requiring customers to wait outside, your staff should actually follow through and check on them. I shouldnāt have to chase down an employee to find out whether Iām allowed to sit myself when your own sign states otherwise. Train your staff to be attentive, because this experience was beyond...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went to Akuma after a beach day because we had tried them before and enjoyed the food. Yesterday was our 4th time dining there. My autistic son is a picky eater and he asked for Carl's Jr. which is in the same plaza. So we got his order and proceeded to Akuma. Not the first time we had done it. We always go in a large group. 8 of us dined this time. Upon ordering, we were told that outside food isn't allowed and he would have to take it outside. The other times we went to Akuma, nobody said anything about it. We explained that our son is autistic and picky, and asked if they would allow him to finish his food. The server was apathetic and had to go and ask a manger if that was alright, and she came back minutes later to let us know that this time it was okay and next time it wouldn't be allowed. Their rules aren't consistent and they have no sense of inclusiveness. We paid for 7 people to eat WITH a required 18% gratuity, but my son's $7 fast food was going to be a problem. The servers looked like they had better things to do and seemed snobby. We did not come for that energy. Thank you Akuma. The food was good, but we will not give you our business again. ...

When I came to pick up order there was no order- when I asked if they possibly put under a different name; she said no. When she repeated the order I was trying to think of everyoneās order she seemed to know what my order was. I called my husband to make sure it was this location. He read back the number he called; which was number on the receipt and told me the exact total I had in front of me. Super bummed they didnāt acknowledge they made a mistake; that it was PROBABLY my fault bc there was a different location- but they didnāt offer any solutions aside from should only take 10 mins- which it did not take only 10 mins. I waited additional 10-15 the original order time was 20 and I came 30 mins just in case it was busy since itās Friday evening. Disappointed to say the least since this...
