After waiting 30 or so minutes for my bowl of ramen, I cannot in good conscience give this place a high rating.

The food is superb, from the hand roll I had and the ramen, but there are two faults here that I need to point out. One - my mom and I came in before two other parties, yet they had all their orders out before ours and they ordered the same amount we did. One actually closed out and left before our main course was served. 🤦‍♂️

Second, the timeline between my hand roll and the half-hour for my bowl of ramen to come out is too much. I don’t know how this place prioritizes their clients and flow, but it’s good practice to serve food on a first come first served basis and not what’s convenient for the kitchen. We literally ordered three dishes, but as stated above - both parties finished their meals and checked out and we arrived here way before them.

For the record we ordered one bowl of ramen, a hand roll and a sushi roll so it’s nothing complicated, yet being put on the back burner made me feel extremely awkward and unwelcome. I understand that it’s a fine balance running a restaurant, but at the end of the day - you’re in the hospitality business and simply having good tasting food is inadequate.

TL;DR - hospitality is lacking, but the food was good. Would avoid if you’re on a lunch break and/or a...

Yessss, a definite must-go!

My food restrictions narrowed after watching the Seaspiracy documentary on Netflix, and I stopped eating fish for months.

Although my body wasn't affected by this decision, my tastebuds were sad. I missed the comfort and the yum--factor of sushi, which were a go-to meal (particularly without rice) before photoshoots.

Enter: Tama Sushi. Haven of both vegan, pescavegan, and carnivore options.

I wish this place existed in Los Angeles.

Although I inhaled my Bumble-afforded dinner too quickly to document its deliciousness via photos, its memory still cozies me.

Order: -Vegan Miso Ramen. I adore how miso soup is included with every order (the equivalent of chips & salsa at Mexican restaurants) but this is worth the additional investment. -LB Vegan roll -Mango Tango roll -Magic Mountain roll

Skip: -I regret nothing.

Bonus points for such a friendly, allergen-accommodating staff, especially since we arrived 30 minutes before closing. They didn't rush us, and went out of their way to ensure their dishes accommodated my quirky dietary...

We were sitting right away. However, we weren't impressed by the service. We came in hungry, hoping to have a good first experience here, but ended up being attended to and served after someone else who came in after us. As someone who has worked restaurants for almost a decade, i wasn't pleased. We were about to leave when suddenly we finally got our food. If it wasn't for the chef, we probably would've waited longer to get menus and left sooner. However, the rolls were drowned in sauce and mayo WAY too much. Barely can taste the fish and was not a well-rounded taste as well as inconsistency all the way through.. I see the direction they wanted to go but was not executed structurally or taste wise. Unfortunately, I was hoping to have some AMAZING rolls considering how long we had to wait to get them, but they were not amazing it was rather "MEH".. If it wasn't for the chef being WELCOMING and not being charged for the vegan roll, we would put 1 star. Ps- THE SUGGESTED TIP RATES ARENT MATHEMATICALLY ACCURATE, THEY ADD MORE ON AS IF WE...

Small location and very busy. We were lucky to grab the last table upon arriving for an early Saturday night dinner. Service was great from the moment we arrived with getting us a table right away and quickly serving us beverages, our food and refills. We sat on their little patio and ordered crab cheese wontons, cucumber salad and plain edamame. The cucumber salad was sweetener than expected and thinly sliced for easy eating & sharing. The wontons were overflowing with crab. The edamame was served with a salt grinder. We ordered their two kinds of sashimi (salmon & tuna) which just melted away in your mouth. I ordered the 911 roll and it was spicier than any other spicy tuna I’ve had and was soo fresh that I could easily bite into it to give my mouth a moment with the spice. It’s great that they also have a gluten-free menu making it easy to stick with dietary restrictions when needed.

Very small, cozy family friendly place. We went in with our family and felt very welcomed to dine in. Most Restaurants don’t even ask if it’s your first time here anymore and they did. We have a young toddler with us, and they went out of their way to entertain our toddler, with conversation, stickers and smiles. The parking lot was easy, seemed packed but there is parking towards the side and back. The wait was a little long but they let us know that some items take longer than others - but the food was great, even they care about the presentation of it. The service you can definitely feel it’s family owned and they care. Would definitely come back. + for family friendly + vegan and regular options + for parking lot

I was so sad to hear that Blue Bird Sushi closed and super excited when they opened back up in HB with Tama Sushi. The flavors are all great and well balanced. My favorite has to be the Fresh Roll, I can eat two of them easy. The takeout service is also really fast and the same portion size as dining in, which is really appreciated. Update: The service here is amazing, they refill your tea many times and are constantly checking if you need anything. The rolls are filling, creative, and fresh. The banana tempura dessert was so good! It was light, not overly sweet, and warm with creamy ice cream. I can’t wait to try the rest of their rolls.
