Don't be fooled by the cramped fast-casual storefront. The food is excellent!
My wife and I visited Hot N Chili for the first time last night. We started with a bowl of Tamatar Kashorba tomato soup and an order of Samosas. The soup was generously portioned and was deep and complex in flavor. The Samosas were fried perfectly, with plenty of well-seasoned stuffing and a dusting of spices.
Our entrees consisted of the Goat Karahi and the Chicken Curry. In the past, I have experienced tough and chewy goat meat at a number of other Indian restaurants. When I took my first bite of the goat at Hot N Chili, I said, "Wow!" out loud. The goat was very tender and flavorful, indicative of meat that had been slow cooked for hours. Thinking I had stumbled upon a lucky chunk of goat, I cut into another piece. The second piece was just as tender and tasty as the first. The Chicken Curry was also very good, with tender chunks of chicken and an assertive coconut milk curry sauce.
Sides included an order of plain naan and an order of basmati rice. Both were well-prepared and served as excellent accompaniments to soak up the sauces from the entrees.
Our only negative note with the entrees was although we had requested medium spiciness when asked by the waiter, the heat level was quite mild.
For dessert, we ordered the Carrot Halwa because we had never tried that before. My wife said it was good. For me, there was nothing wrong with it, but it didn't do it for me as a dessert.
Overall, we enjoyed our dinner very much. My wife said it was the best meal she'd had in a long time. We will...
Read moreMy experience with this restaurant is really funny because 50% of the times the food was really bad and 50% of the times it was exceptional so I rate it overall 3 star. The biggest highlight was the server Mr. Talah was really going out of his way to make sure that we were welcomed, The food was nice and make sure that the experience was really great. We ordered samosas which looked like the samosas from store which were refried. The fish stick was OK and lack salt and the $26 chicken kadai (see photo) came in a bowl which was half cooked and 50% of it was just chopped big onion pieces, green pepper and big chunks of chicken. There was no gravy at all. I told this to Talah and he took get back immediately to the cook to make the fix. Graciously Day did fix it, but wasnât up to the mark like what I had last time. Last one not the least when I asked about the dessert Mr. Talah was kind enough to sample us the desserts and then told order whatever you like. Iâm certainly sure that the cook must have changed and all the four times I have been there every time the cook was different and I can significantly feel the difference..
Please maintain the cooks if theyâre doing good because at the end of the day, that is what matters . At the same time I would like to mention that the price point is way too high and really not worth the cost.
Anyway, I still give them 3.5 star because they did try their best and with certain consistency, they can be much better.
I hope next time when I go there, the food will...
Read moreWe had been waiting for the place to open for months and finally got a chance to stop by and try it. The service was excellent (thank you, Khan) and the food is just SO good. The Tikka masala has a slightly sweet hint that went really well with the lamb and the chicken saag was so tender that it practically falls to pieces.
Per our server, Khan, we went with the garlic naan over the plain and omg it was so worth it. Nice, crispy garlic completely coating each piece... so good!
We finished up the meal with a shared rice pudding that, for me at least, was surprisingly good. I've never been a big fan of rice pudding since it's normally so sweet but this one is perfectly balanced.
There are a lot of other options on the menu that we want to check out, so we are definitely going to be back. The price is a wee bit high if you're used to places that just do buffets but the quality backs up the cost. I definitely recommend checking them out if you're in...
