The service was as not good. The food was mediocre.
We came for my uncles birthday so I had my family with me and we wanted to sing karaoke. We arrived before the dj did. We out our names in early but the dj said it'll be an hour before we sing. He even said don't write a second song, only one to sing at a time. I was on board with that, it seemed fair to give everyone a chance to sing first then do another round. WELL. The dj let his friend, the same five to six people, sing the entire night. We saw maybe two or three others, but then the karaoke guy kept calling only his friends to come and sing. I had to talk to guy and say it's been two hours, can my uncle sing please? So my uncle sang one song and the dj went right back to only calling his friends on stage singing their fourth or fifth song by that point. I went up again and told him it's been three hours. We spent money on drinks and good and put our names in at the beginning of the night. I asked why he's treating us this way. He said I'll get you soon. I look at his laptop monitor and our names weren't even on the queue list. But his friends names kept repeating. I was so upset and disappointed. My family was too.
I've never made a claim of racism against any establishment or business, but was it a coincidence he only called up his white friends and white people up to sing, and never called the Mexican family who had to ask twice about why he's treating us like this. We had to ask a server three times for sugar for a simple coffee that was finished before we got sugar. All this at a place called Don Jose's. The karaoke guy was very fishy and the business contracting him should be aware. Shame on the karaoke dj. By the end of the night, his friends sang up to eight times. I counted. Once we finished our food and drinks we paid for, mostly everyone in the place was gone since it was fifteen minutes until closing. Then the dj came up and said we can sing now. Shameful. We spent a lot of money there but we will never return to such a terrible...
Read moreNOT FAMILY FRIENDLY! Have been coming to this restaurant for decades - since I was a kid - and came here today with my mom, a friend, and our kids. My friend brought her 2 year old daughter and her VERY new newborn. She had her hands full. Her daughter gets nervous and started crying in the restaurant when we got to our table. My friend was trying to help her daughter to calm down when a worker (manager?), Patty, approached her and in an EXTREMELY rude tone, said “Can you take your daughter outside? I’m getting complaints.” We had literally just sat down. My friend was embarrassed and trying to pick up her daughter and scoot out of the booth to take her out, when Patty came back only seconds later and in an even MORE rude tone said “THE DOOR IS OVER THERE!” and pointed. I was SHOCKED. My friend was so embarrassed and was trying not to cry, while also trying to console her toddler. My mom and I were disgusted by Patty’s treatment of a struggling, newly postpartum mother, so we got the kids and left to take our business elsewhere. We hadn’t even been in the restaurant 10 minutes yet. Once we got the kids outside, my friend was really shaken up, and went back in to speak with Patty and tell her that she could’ve handled that differently. Patty’s response was “I hope you can fix your attitude.” What??? None of us were rude or had an attitude. How dare she shame a young mother like that. We’ve been coming here for decades, but we will never be coming back. Beware - this restaurant doesn’t tolerate kids being kids and will embarrass and...
Read moreWanna know if a Mexican restaurant is good? Look to see if other Latinos eat there. As soon as I walked in I knew I was in trouble. My friend really wanted to go there so I played along. It's OK, i dont need authentic Mexican food to enjoy a restaurant. Atmosphere, all non-hispanic, not a Hispanic person around, not even the staff, but I powered through. The place seems old and dated, not very appealing and the bathrooms were the same. They have all the basic combos but there is about a $7 price difference if you want both rice and beans. Lower amount if you choose rice or beans. I dont know a Mexican restaurant that charges more for both rice AND beans. We ordered off the Lesser menu and ordered a side of rice for $5 to share. It was a large portion and saved us $$. I ordered the chili verde pork burrito. Looked OK but the sauce was sour. Our server was nowhere to be found Soni couldn't complain. She finally"stopped" by to see how we were doing. My friend said fine, I looked up to talk to tell the server about my food, and she ran off without looking at me. I proceeded to just eat the inside of my burritos that was bland pork. I stopped eating realizing maybe the sauce went bad and I didn't want to get sick. When the server finally came by I told her the sauce was sour. Her response, "The green sauce is different than the red sauce" and mumbled something about tomatillo. I am aware it is made with tomatilo, but doesn't mean it should taste sour. That's all...
