Wahoo's Fish Taco — Restaurant in Huntington Beach

What a nice little spot close to the beach.

The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The service and staff were all kind and professional.

4 Star - The Citrus Slaw shrimp tacos were really good. The shrimp had a nice flavor to them, were not overcooked, and were packed in the taco.

3 Star - The 1988 fish taco had good flavor but the fish was a little dry, eating like chicken. The ingredients were all fresh, which helped!

4 Star - The crispy fish taco was perfect and the star of the day. The fish was perfectly cooked and all of the flavors balanced well

3 Star - The rice was refreshing and had a unique flavor. The spicy beans were a little disappointing as they were more tomato forward than I was expecting.

3 Star - The kids quesadilla was as advertised.

4 Star- All four salsas were good, none of them were overly spicy. Each was unique with a distinct flavor.

3 Star - The asada street taco was just okay. Not flavor to the asada and no char. I would order the shrimp and crispy fish tacos aagin.

A little disappointing that the plates don’t come with drinks.

3* = Good but no separation from similar restaurants 4** = Set themselves a part and their food is different and I want to go back. 5*= You have to go out of your way and make a special trip to try the deliciousness...

Horrible Service

Order was placed online in advance, and was not prepared upon arrival. They claimed that the order that they received was missing an entree despite it having shown properly online during and after the order was placed. Everything else was miraculously present.

Instead of owning up to their mistake - they feigned ignorance, and asked us to repeat the entire order verbally in person.

We had to wait for the final entree to be completed (from scratch) before we could leave, and they did not recook the rest of the entrees and sides, so everyone else's meal was lukewarm and soggy by the time we arrived home - just one mile away off Beach & Talbert.

To top it all off - they completely butchered the entree that was originally missing, and BOTH SIDES provided were wrong, as well as the tacos themselves. And the tacos came dry - no sauce or anything - despite the order not even stating that.

We will never order from this...

We love Wahoos! We’ve been coming to this place for over 25 years. The food is sort of an Orange County style comfort food. The tacos are very good. We love the blackened chicken, blackened fish, and Carnitas tacos here. We also love the Maui bowl with teriyaki steak over white rice and black beans. Their white beans are also very good.
