TLDR: The food was ok but the board prices are either wrong, need to be updated, or I got scammed 😅 Pics Included
I saw this place pop up on Google maps for the first time so I decided to check it out.
Saw the menu and I went for a BBQ Chicken Tater Meal for 11.99 which includes a side of bread, a side of my choice, and a drink. I went to pay and saw that my bill was 15.00 (not including taxes). This kicked off a weird series of events.
I asked about the differing prices and was told it was because of my choices of meat. I then asked for the non-meat version and was told it was the same price.
I asked why the price were different and the cashier told me that she has received similar complaints and that the sides added additional cost to the meal and she suggested that I should “read in between the lines” for the prices. (I was under the impression that if the menu states “meals includes X,Y,Z” it means you pay a flat rate but hey I’m not from around here)
I decided to just order the BBQ Chicken Tater meal for 15.43 (including tax). Out of curiosity I asked how much for a grilled cheese meal with all my same sides. She didnt know the price off the top of her head so she rang it up and it was a similar price on the board. I give up asking questions at this point.
I received my food and ate it minutes later. It was good but I don’t think it was worth feeling like I was just being scammed. The whole time it felt dishonest.
I’m gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that because of food costs going up they had changed their prices and are working on updating the menu. If that’s the case just make a temporary sign about the price increase just to be upfront with your customers. So I know from the beginning I’m spending 15ish bucks for a Baked potato, corn bread, potato salad, and soda.
Also if I paid with card my bill would be 16.00, thats a difference of 4 dollars...
Read moreWe drove up from Ironton today to have a late lunch. I had been hearing good things about this little restaurant and really was excited to try it. I don't give bad reviews unless they're deserved, and unfortunately this one is well deserved. Our food was very bland, between the two of us the only thing that was warm, would be my chicken and dumplings which had a great texture I had no problem with the dumplings at all except for the lack of salt. If you go through the drive-thru, don't ask for extra salt because we were told they don't have extra salt. Everything else was cold I ordered corn that literally tasted like it was taken out of the can and put into my container, the mashed potatoes were cold as well. The coleslaw was very good no complaints there. The green beans were very obviously from a can and had no seasoning. The meatloaf was actually good no problems there. I gave the service at 3 simply because I think restaurants should be able to provide you with salt and pepper upon request, the atmosphere I gave a five because all the pictures I have seen of the inside, have been very cute, and very clean. We went through the drive-thru, and it was easy to get in and out of. The pricing was excellent for a meat and two sides. I don't believe that we would make the trip again, it really felt like a waste of time, and money, it was such a...
Read moreJust finished my food order. Many problems: Not quick. Took almost 25 minutes from time of order to receiving bag of food. Check your camera. I had to go across the street for some shade and waited and waited.
The Styrofoam serving container with 3 compartments did not keep the food items separate. I had chicken and dumplings. When I opened the box, everything had spilled over into one combined sloppy mess.
Something orange like squash was mixed in. The bread was totally soaked and mushy, inedible. The two pats of butter had melted and liquified, useless, even if the bread had stayed dry.
The green beans were ok, but very bland tasting. Just a dash of salt would have made a difference.
The waffle fries were undercooked, cold, limp and mushy, swimming in a layer of grease on the bottom of the container. There was no ketchup included. Inedible...
I paid too much ( charged an extra buck for the fries), and waited too long, for a very disappointing meal, that was just a sloppy mess.
The cup of water was cold, grateful for that!
This after driving 7 hours from Arlington Virginia....hungry, with a solid recommendation from a...
