Tonight was our first time at 7 Leguas (pronounced "leg was") in case you're like me and was pronouncing it legooas..lol When we entered we were happy to see how they had transformed the old Golden Corral into a brightly colored welcoming atmosphere. A painting of Frida Kahlo caught my eye that led to a fun conversation with our young server Sergio about Salma Hayek's movie Frida ( He'd never seen it) very quickly our table had a helping of Chips and the best tasting salsa this side of the border along with our Pepsi's. I couldn't stay focused on the menu because the fun decorations kept my eyes wandering all over the place. One of my favorite dishes chicken espinacca was on the menu, would it be as good as our favorite place in Livingston? I wondered. Sergio quickly put my mind at ease. So I ordered it . So glad I did. I didn't think it could be as good, but to my surprise I must say everything was tastier and had more flavor overall. Generous servings too! I took half home. My husband ordered the fried avacado dish, I didn't catch the name but he enjoyed it so much the plate will barely need a quick rinse. 🤣 I just asked him the name of the dish he said " I think it was called G.O.O.D. .😊 The Owner came by the table to make sure we were happy. He's a very nice guy . He will be very successful! The parking lot is always full. But seating is plenty. You've got to try it if you like Mexican food! And when you go ask for Sergio to be your server he's...
Read moreAfter staying away for over a year due to some past experiences we decided it was time to give this place another shot. We took some out of town guests there and had a generally disappointing evening. Service was incredibly slow - we waited at least 15 minutes after ordering our drinks and they arrived one at a time over the next 10 minutes. The only English-speaking server didn't take our order for another 15 minutes and then when the food finally came out - 30 minutes later - one of the entrees was missing. We couldn't find our waiter but when we did he gave us the usual "it's on its way" and then it showed up 15 minutes later when the rest of us were half done. The food ranged from great salsa and chips to miserably grizzly and tough fajita meat. The ceviche was so heavily infused with jalapenos that it was inedible to all but the hardiest of our party. If we hadn't asked we would have all wound up with refried beans but since we did ask we found out there was a choice and fortunately switched over to charro. Our waiter was clearly unhappy that we asked. On the way out we found that the soft serve ice cream machine had been emptied and cleaned at 9:25 p.m. and we missed it by 5 minutes, so we missed the dessert we'd been looking forward to. We thought the place was open till 10:00. There's a lot of Tex-Mex within a short drive of Lake Conroe - too many choices for us to...
Read moreUPDATED 05/05/19: We've been back a few times since my stellar review when they first opened. I gotta say the place is losing it's appeal and quality of service. Maybe we got lucky that first couple weeks, I dunno. Anyway, the food is pretty much always mediocre, just not a lot of flavor. The service is always terrible, slow, and constantly getting our orders wrong. A lot of that is to do with a few of the waitresses not speaking any English so they have to send someone over to translate. I swear to you, this happens every single time. The best thing about this place still is the alcohol. The prices went up a little in the last few months but it's still quite affordable. For that, i'll give it two stars.
10/18/18: So far so good! We tried this place yesterday and were surprised at the amazing remodeling done inside and out. It all looked and felt very clean, which is a huge plus. Our waitress was still learning everything and didn't quite know the menu but she was very kind, so we tipped her well. Their green salsa is very good, and made it difficult to stop eating to leave room for our meal! The menu was a little overwhelming with way too many to choose from but we tried the queso and Texas Quesadillas which were delicious! Managers had checked on us a few times, and we just felt very welcome. I think 7 Leguas is a very good addition to Huntsville and we need more...
