As a native Texan, I've grown up with TexMex and this is probably the second to worst place I've been to. The salsa is not good. On a scale of 1-5 with 1 being terrible, I give it a 2. The "taco meat" in the beef enchiladas did not have any seasoning at all. It was just cooked plain ground beef. They did not have any sauce, just cheese. The sauce is usually the best part of beef enchiladas. The cooking of the beef enchiladas was off too. The top of the enchiladas was overcooked and the tortillas browned almost charred, and the underside of the tortillas closest to the plate was not cooked thoroughly; so they were not hot, and were brittle, meally, and kindly broke apart. The refried beans were bland. Like they cut the seasonings in half to save money; to the point you could give them to your sick kid to keep them from throwing up. That bland. The SO had cheese enchiladas that didn't have any sauce either. The only good thing we had was queso which we rate as 3 out of 5. But I'm willing to admit our opinion could be skewed since everything else was so terrible. Then our server look a lunch break and didn't tell anyone so we had to wait and ask someone else for our check. They also have a smoking section that is in the open without any ventilation, so you walk in and the whole place smells of cigarettes. So it really doesn't matter if you sit in nonsmoking, you're still going to smell like you left the bar at 1:00 AM. I really wanted to like los panchitos. They were pretty decent at their old location on 11th st. But this was so bad I can't go back. The only reason I'm writing this is to keep some poor couple from wasting...
Read moreWe stopped here on our way back to south Houston. The service was prompt but basic. The salsa was very bland - it tasted like warm tomato sauce. We were later informed that there is a "spicy" salsa available by request only. We both ordered enchilada suizas (chicken). The suiza sauce was very thin with very bland flavor. The chicken tasted like it had been freshly boiled with no other seasoning. The tortillas were undercooked. The beans were acceptable. The rice was pale orange, sticky, and flavorless. The entire meal was a huge disappointment. We will not be returning to this restaurant during future trips. If you think this place has authentic Mexican food, you've never been to a true Mexican taqueria in south Texas. Also, the bathrooms were atrocious and are not handicap...
Read moreThis was my first time at Los Panchito's. I tried this restaurant because my customers give it good reviews. It was a clean place with a nice environment. The staff all seemed to be friendly. The menu had lots of choices with reasonable prices. I really enjoyed the red salsa and the creamy green salsa they served. I ordered a sour cream chicken enchilada and tamale on the side. They were both really good and we're fresh and hot. I also ordered the deluxe chalupa. The plate came with two: piled high with ground beef, beans, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese and guacamole. I did not eat both. The guacamole was made from scratch. It was kinda plain as it was a topping aside the chalupa but it was very good. Overall I was very satisfied with this experience and...
