New China Grill & Buffett — Restaurant in Huntsville

UPDATE: 8/1/2024 New China is like Old Faithful, it never changes... I have not been there in almost 2 years, and decided to have dinner there last night. It was the same-same buffet offering of yore… The Hibachi Grill Chef a very friendly Hispanic fellow (glad to see they are employing DEI), made me a very nice stir-fry which was not loaded with grease and was very tasty. I observed him constantly cleaning his work are which was nice. The BBQ ribs were the star of the meal. They were cooked very nice, moist and tender, but could have used a bit more tang as they tasted, I don’t know a bit blah. The loser item of the night, the wantons! They were cold and hard and could have been used as rocks during a riot. The service, well it has not changed, you see the waiter once, and that’s it. You have to flag them down for any additional items you may desire. Just know that going in. Overall it was a good meal, but they should really try and jazz it up some. It is a good hip pocket place to go, if you are out and about and near Jordan Avenue. Has the potential to truly be a five (5) star place.

2022 Review: Much improvement can be observed since my last visit. I'm kinda of starting to like this place more... I got my fill of nice, fresh and tasty food. The Mongolian Grill was awesome and so were the hot/cold items on the buffet line. The only thing that upset me is that the dude cooking on the grill has ear buds in, speaks only work English, and with his Chineese accent screams as he thinks that helps folks understand... Good food at a fair price. BTW just how many New China's...

Today I went to The New China Buffet on Jordan Lane in Huntsville AL. I had Cocktail shrimp and their muscles. After leaving the restaurant, my head started getting very hot and stomach started boiling. When I got up to go to the bathroom, my human gastrointestinal tract had release down my pants to up mine back right in front of my 14year old son. I was so embassies, words can’t explain. When I called New China Buffet to speak to the Owner or Manager, I was informed that he won’t be in until 3pm. Then he Ken return my called right after hanging up and informed me that their food is good (Ya Right!) and that the shrimp is kept on Ice and the muscle is freshly prepared every morning and if I felt like I had food poison, that I could go to the hospital and there is a number he will give me to call for their insurance company. The moral to this statement is first of all thank God that I’m okay. But the humiliation that I just experience in front of my son could never be erased. It just touch me that you can’t trust other people cooking and the best thing to do is stay out of Buffets that do not put fresh food on their buffet lines daily. It was roomy. You have enough space there to get a group of maybe 15 people together if you wanted. Very busy during lunch and dinner hours. Not an issue though, it does not impact the space you have or the quality of the food. If anything, that's a good sign people like the food! They have a small hibachi grill you can ask for custom orders, the chef behind the grill is quick and makes it well. Just listen for the bell he uses to signal he has finished a plate. You don't have to stand and wait. Fresh seafood and several soup options. Never had a spicy shrimp soup before so it was neat to try something new. They have ice cream you scoop out yourself and other miscellaneous desert options like banana pudding! Oh, sushi options are there too. There is another guy to the right of the hibachi grill that is putting them together. Bever asked if you can get your own roll so I don't know if that is an option.

I dropped the score from 5 to 4 because some of the seats were torn and the carpet had a few stains. Last I checked, the health score was 95+. I'd give a 4.5 if I could. If your cravings a sit down place to munch on some Chinese food than this is a good pick in my opinion. I'd go...
