Our first experience was great. My wife and I went for lunch on a Friday around 1pm. We were seated immediately (wasn't too busy at that point). Our server was friendly and engaging -- as often as she stopped by. Unfortunately, I wish she had been more attentive throughout our meal. (Not naming her because she was so friendly and may have just been having an off-day, and it was post-lunch crowd.)
We ordered fried crawfish for an appetizer and decided to split the Low Country Boil with the 88 Special seasoning, medium heat. Typically I don't like sharing an entree because it means half a portion size, but that turned out not to be an issue at all.
The crawfish were quite good (West End Grill has got 'em beat, though). The Low Country Boil, however, was fantastic. The surprise (to me) was just how good the boiled egg was with the seasoning. We ordered three more. There was an abundance of shrimp and sausage, both of which were excellent. Of course, even 15 pounds of crab legs wouldn't be enough, but the 1/2 lb. that we got was exceptional. The flavor of the seasoning was outstanding. Might get hot instead of medium next time, but I'm not sure. Medium had a nice amount of kick without being too hot.
Looking forward to going back and getting some fried stuff and lobster.
UPDATE: We've been back many, many times since my initial review and have a favorite server, Dee. For a restaurant that specifically has "Boiling Seafood" in the name, their fried food is just amazing. Buffalo shrimp are incredible, as are the oysters, calamari, fried...
Read moreI finally ate here. I love Juicy Seafood so i wondered how this place would compare. I think overall, its cheaper than the Juicy. The food was not on point though. Better than places like red lobster, but not even close to the Juicy Seafood place. The sausage tasted like pepperoni, and all the crablegs tasted like sausage. They go much lighter on seasoning than the juicy does. The corn could have been softer. You do get 1 potato & 1 corn even with half pounds- but the flavor was not good. Again, everything tastes like pepperoni sausage- and I didn't order sausage, my friend did. The presentation was a small tight bag with barely any juices in the bag. If you go to Juicy, the presentation is a big bag steamed with all the juices and when you open the bag, the seasoning smell hits you in the face instantly. If your like me, youve been curious- especially with previous reviews saying some like this place more & some like that place more. Im here to tell ya The Juicy Seafood is better. Better presentation, better taste, quicker service every time, and just better food. Glad I tried Pier88, but now I know. It was not good. They do have a larger menu of fried foods though, and Pier88's Cajun fries and fried foods were way better. If your after a good boil, go to Juicy. If you want fried shrimp, fried crawfish, ect-...
Read morePier 88 Boiling Seafood is a great seafood restaurant. A large place with a bar and plenty of booths to enjoy a meal. The employees were great. My server was sweet, professional, and made sure I was happy with the meal while keeping the drinks full. I ordered the Alaskan King Crab Boil with medium spicy Cajun sauce. The legs and claws were large and boiled to perfection. It came with two potatoes, as well as two cobs of corn. I enjoyed the fact that it had scissors to cut thru the shells, a fork, and a shell cracking implement. Of course, it came with gloves and a bib to keep you tidy and not feeling as though you needed a shower after the meal. For a starter, I had fried mushrooms with ranch dressing. The restaurant was clean, and the bathrooms were as well. This restaurant was my best experience in Huntsville for Alaskan King Crab to date. The price was reasonable, and I left happy and full. I can see many trips here in the future. Give it a try. I think you will enjoy it. Thanks again to the sweet server. This place is lucky to have such a...
