S & V Down Home Cooking — Restaurant in Huntsville

I ate here for dinner on a Thursday night, I was the only customer dining in. Orders are taken at a serving counter and customers pay at that time. The staff greeted me with friendly faces and many hello's were exchanged. The main decorations are an abundance of family pictures, a TV provided entertainment or background noise. As I stated I ate my dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed my meal, the waitress visited my table twice and shared a wonderful smile. The food was okay, nothing special that I would like to brag about. I had country fried steak, fried okra, green beans and a sweet tea. The food was served on styrofoam plate with plastic utensils. The cost was agreeable for the food quantity, however I feel for the same price I can get better food quality at other establiments. I will give S&V another try...

Got this delivered by GrubHub. The order was perfect. The fried chicken was nice and crispy. I got the wing and breast. The breast was a bit tough but still had moisture in it. It is hard to keep it fresh when the delivery service has 3 other stops before you. Because it was delivery I cannot comment on atmosphere. The collards were perfectly done and not shredded. The mac & cheese was not as cheesy as I like but was still really good. I would order it again! The hot-water corn bread was a new experience (hey I am a Yankee transplant) and was delicious! I will definitely be ordering from them again, and one day actually go...

Tasty food, very clean and well organized, nice people with a personal "family" touch on the atmosphere. Those in our group commented they felt so comfortable, like we were eating in someone's home! All food came out on time and correct as ordered. Between the group of six we ordered chicken and dressing, country fried steak, fried chicken, grilled pork chop, and a hamburger plate.
