Not here to give a bad rating but I just read in the news that this restaurant was upset by DoorDash delivering their food. I don't understand and want to ask a few things and offer my opinion as a frequent DoorDash/delivery service user.
Why would a restaurant be upset by a service that makes eating from the restaurant more convenient, and therefore, more likely to happen? Based on the news article I read, it seems you're upset because you didn't know you were present on their app/website, but why would you care any more about that than you would of Google listing you? Why should a restaurant get to decide if someone else picks up a customer's food for them? That decision should lie with the customer.
Why would you be upset that you aren't making any money off of being available on their service? What would you be making money from other than for preparing the food which the customer still pays for? DoorDash keeps the delivery fee because they offer the service. DoorDash is a delivery service for customers, they're basically temporary personal food assistants.
If a customer's food is wrong, late/cold, are you tasked with a refund? I would think not, as DoorDash provides that in certain situations, and yet you have no partnership so surely you aren't expected to back it? Being part of the selection on their website only brings in more customers for your business. Why wouldn't you want that? If anyone should be getting a cut from someone, it's DoorDash from you; for bringing in more customers and providing a delivery service.
The bottom line is that when people want to order in, not being able to order from your restaurant doesn't mean they'll get up and go get it instead. They will simply order from elsewhere that offers delivery. I personally like the approach they take to adding restaurants as opposed to other delivery services, because it means there's more selection. Because of this and the usually excellent customer service, I use them more often than any other. I hope this restaurant and all that take/have taken similar actions reconsider because DoorDash and food delivery services are popular, and for good reason....
Read moreFirst and last time. I waited years before giving this place a shot and I saw all the great pictures of pizza others put up, and they were on my Grubsouth .com delivery choices, so I thought being home alone today I would invest the cost and have a great pizza. This wasn't it. I order two small (thank goodness) just in case it was another food place caught in bad covid-cooking hell and I hope that's the excuse considering previous reviews. I judge a pizza place by their Italian sausage pizza and their deluxe/supreme/chef special pizza. The first sign things aren't going to go well is when you see crumbly little spongy pieces of "Italian" sausage all over the sausage pizza. You know the kind they use on grocery store pizzas. Yep, nothing "Italian or fresh ingredients" about that. Italian sausage is hand pinched drops of flavored meat that leave yummy greasy spots when you can't help yourself and pluck one up from the cheesy goodness to savor the flavor. The crust taste like preformed frozen pizza box pizza crusts, thin like I like it, but the bite ratio was tough, no yeast flavor wood burning smoky goodness to get the "authentic" Italian pie experience and the edges weren't brushed with garlic butter or even basic olive oil. Instead, it was hard and dry. All the basics were the same with the supreme and to make matters worse they forgot the ingredients on their own Deluxe pizza. No where did it say on the menu green olives were on the deluxe. Black olive yes, but black and green, I would have told you to nix the green olives because they did what green olives do, overpower the taste of everything else making it taste like I was eating olive pizza. If there was any oregano, fennel or garlic used on either of these pizzas or even in the sauce I couldn't find it. I don't know if it was the cook of the day, lack of normal ingredients due to Covid or what. However, between the added cost of the same items you can eat in or pick up for about 2 to 5 dollars cheaper I would say pass on this...
Read moreWe went in on a Tuesday around 5:30pm and it was pretty empty. Our pizzas came out in about 15 minutes. The pizza was good, but nothing that we are dying to come back and get anytime soon. I ordered the Key West and my husband ordered the Deluxe. For us, the veggies were not cooked long enough and still raw/crunchy. My Key West pizza was supposed to have chicken on it and I couldn’t find any. Maybe there was just so little of it that I couldn’t tell it was there. We did like the crust and the sauce. The crust wasn’t too thick or thin, it was right in between. It also had a nice crunch to it, but was still chewy. They have a small Putt-Putt setup upstairs which costs $3/person. This may be good for the little ones, but it’s a small area and tight, not making it great for adults imo. The atmosphere is kinda cool. They have lights with different colored bulbs in them, several were burned out though. They have several wrought iron outdoor tables and chairs for days with great weather. The indoor table tops have various different characters on them and some table have church pre type benches which weren’t very comfortable to me, so we moved to the table with chairs seating instead which was much better for my back. They have extremely large cans of tomatoes sitting each table which was kinda odd to us. I get it, it’s a pizza place and they were cans of tomatoes, but it still seemed to be an odd choice for decor. The employees were all pleasant. We have heard their gelato is fantastic, but we ate too much pizza and left no room for dessert. Maybe next time if we...
