We had been wanting to stop at this place and visit for awhile now. We never see any cars here, so we weren’t expecting much. We quickly found that this place is amazing. We didn’t expect to be so big, but the memorial just kept going and going. It eventually leads to the Huntsville Depot Museum, if you want to check out some old train cars and steam engines or if you want to keep walking it leads to the Gateway Greenway walk path. This is one of the best memorials I have seen outside of DC. I highly recommend you visit. *I threw in a couple pictures from the Huntsville Depot Museum that’s located at the end of the memorial.

The Huntsville/Madison County Veterans Memorial is a beautiful space dedicated to ALL veterans. It is sacred ground where all are brothers and sisters equally. All that come here honor our vets simply by being present and noting the sacrifice of many and the patriotism of all. I see it as the official entry to the downtown area. At first glance, you see the free parking directly in front of the Memorial, but don't be fooled, as it is a meandering trail that carries you deeper into a treed spaces of history.

I have to say this Memorial is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen and I'm original from Baltimore (so I've been to DC a lot in my life) but have lived here for almost 20 years. Both my husband and I have served in the Marine Corps. He's a native Huntsvillian and has a brick dedicated to him from my mother. This Memorial really pays homage to all the Veterans here in Madison county and is very humbling. If you ever get a chance while paying through this beautiful city so and see it!

Huntsville has done some notable memorials in the past ten years with this and the Buffalo Soldiers among other's it's quite interesting and they've done an outstanding and very informative mention of all our service Men and Women in this very beautifully implemented honor of those that have laid down and come back in a very different way than they went. It's in the heart of the city where everything from parks food joints of every kind the Civic Center Motels and the monument it self will make your day. I really suggest that you take a peak as much more should be done for those that served our country. The only thing great about it is that we have more or had more freedom than other countries and these are dwendling daily...

I’ve seen a number of Veteran Memorials across the country and without a doubt this is one of the better ones. I’m glad I was able to see it, as I was visiting from out of state to see a friend and this isn’t his kind of activity. I decided on my last day to check it out, just me. 100% worth it!!!!!

When you approach they’re the statues and plaques dedicated to those who have served our country. Behind the statues is a short walking trail that leads to the Gold Star Memorial. It’s an informative trail, with first person narrative from various wars. This area is real peaceful. A great place to talk a break and reflect. The large Alabama and USA flag are also quite the sight!

Definitely worth seeing when...
