Went to the Steak-N-Shake on 5901 University Drive, Suite 1, Huntsville, AL 35806 around est. 3:56 pm when I paid for my order $13.48. I told the cashier we did not like the Pizza burger it was nasty.
Before checking out: Our server took our order after sometime she brought our food. I placed my burger on a separate place because I did not want the chilly-cheese fries to make the burger soggy. My daughter was eating the burger and said she did not like it but was going to try to finish it. She ended up only eating half before she decided it was enough. After I finished my fries which were good, I tried the burger it was not very good. I waited for the server to come to the talk to tell her. She never came. I got up and waited by the drink counter and a different server asked to help me. I asked for a to go box and the Corporate office number. Then sever told me to go to the cashier counter for a tear off card with the number. I walked up to the counter to get the card when a man checking out. I hear him saying something about me. I told him if he wanted to see the nasty burger I would be happy to show him. When all of a sudden he starts yelling and the cashier started yelling at me. I look at the cashier and tell her I never was rude or mean. I just told her that I was not happy with our burgers. The man and cashier were yelling so loud I am assuming a white female manager come up to the counter yelling what’s the problem. By this point I was embarrassed because people were looking at us. I walked to my table because I did not want to cause a scene like they were. As I approached my table this white female manager come up on me in my face yelling. Embarrassed already I had started to tear up because I could not understand why there people were causing such a scene. I turn to her in tears and tell her that they will not embarrass me anymore in front of these people as she continues to be in my face yelling. I place the burgers in a box and my daughter and I walk out. Once in the parking lot I attempted to call Corporate’s office however it was just the stores number. I was so embarrassed!!!
I wanted to tell the server but she was no where to be found. I thought by telling the cashier she could mention it to a manager. Thinking they might ask us what we didn’t like about our meal. Offer a different burger would of be fine. However that was not the case. Yelling and getting all in my face is not the solution I was expecting.
My family eats at Steak-N-Share all the time!!! The food is always great but not today. The service was just as bad.

Read moreDo not go here, especially in the evenings. The staff is incredibly rude and a little racist. We waited 45 minutes to be served. Ridiculous. My hot dog was cold, no salt on the fries, my friends burger was completely wrong. (He ordered a double bacon cheeseburger all the way and he got a plain dry burger.)The shake we ordered with the food to be served first... never came...after an hour we gave up. We didn't even know who our waitress was because three different people brought our food sporadically. No one ever checked on us throughout the entire meal. My friend had to get up and get his own spoon and condiments. Our ticket says our waitress was Annika. When the manager pointed out who Annika was, I was familiar with her because she was the waitress giving stellar service to the table in front of us... that happened to match her same race. In fact, they were seated after us and had a much larger party who all recieved their shakes, extra napkins, and to-go plates. She absolutely doted on them and completely ignored us. We couldn't even get eye contact from our "waitress" to the point we weren't even sure we had one. I tried several other times to get the attention of other staff only to be ignored. They looked over me and around me rather than asking if I needed help. My friend took the ticket to the manager and told him our issues only to be told he was too busy to help us. From the table, I then spoke up to the girl cleaning and asked for the manager myself (once he had time to deal with me of course) about all of these issues. He simply shrugged his shoulders and eventually gave me his name. Shawn ...well Shawn, you're a terrible manager. Every aspect of our meal was severely lacking in taste, temperature and completely wrong. How can a restaurant that's known for burgers and shakes screw up burgers and shakes every single time? You never once offered to fix anything, not even a coupon. You rolled your eyes and acted as if you were annoyed at having to do your job. We will not be back... I don't even see how a business like this can stay open with these low standards and...
Read moreIt's been several months since I've been to Steak and Shake, so I'm not sure if my experiences there are the norm. Last night I was there with my children and friends. When we first came in, even though there was room, they spend an extraordinarily long time getting our tables cleaned so we could sit down. They seemed not terribly interested in cleaning much. The table behind us was piled with dishes and trash for the entire 2+ hours we were there. And there was a Caution Wet Floor thing up in the middle of the restaurant where stuff had been spilled - and it stayed for the entire visit as well. Our waitress took forever to get even our initial drink orders. Then the time between that and food order was very long. I didn't look at my watch to see how long it was before any food came out, but it was quite a long time. Orders were messed up. The food is fine if you don't mind fast food quality (that takes a long time). I believe my plate was the last one dropped off, and the bill was left then too. The bill was a convoluted mess. The seat numbers were off, and did not say what was ordered there. We spent a good chunk of time trying to decipher the bill (which was in 3 pieces when it was dropped off) and then went up to pay. The manager was taking care of the payment, but it took him a very long time to organize this so that we could pay. (The waitress had said that it would be easy to split up the order by seat numbers when paying when she dropped them off. We should have insisted that it be separated out to start with.) By the time we left (I ate quickly once my food arrived and went up to wait to pay as soon as that was done) we had been there for almost 2 1/2 hours.
