25 Steak & Social — Restaurant in Hutchinson

I try to support local but this was not a good experience. Walked in, was sat fairly quick. Server told us they we're under staffed tonight and walked away. Waited 30 mins before we got up and asked for water at the table. My only shining light in this experience was our waitress did everything she could to save what she could. Roasted red pepper and gouda soup was really good when we finally got it. Alligator bites were delicious. The wagyu sirloin was not a good cut. Was over cooked and too many tendons in it made it hard to cut. Country gravy was not delivered with the mashed potatoes. The ahi tuna was dry and over cooked. The rice pilaf was dry and hard, looked like it was uncle Ben's rice. The rolls were so hard on the outside it was had to even cut into them. Again our waitress tried, she truly did and I was thankful for that. We brought up the rice and showed her how bad it was. She said she told management and was told by the owner he would "do nothing about it since it was part of the meal" Mind you, yes it is a side that is listed but it was also a 2 up charge. This whole experience was just horrible. This whole dinner took from 6:30pm to 8:30pm just because of the waiting for food and being ignored for the 1st half hour. I hope they figure this out. Decided to try this place out to celebrate a birthday. We were seated quickly and the waitress was very attentive. 3/4 of us ordered market priced steaks, 1/4 ordered the chicken fried steak. I personally had the 8oz filet, cooked exactly the way I requested (medium) and seasoned perfectly. This was an excellent steak, super tender and flavorful. The two others ordered the 18oz ribeye, both said it was great, also perfectly cooked as ordered (rare and medium rare) and seasoned just right. This was not a cheap meal by any means, and the sides and salads left something to be desired. But we didn’t come for the sides, we came for the meat, and it was excellent. For reference, we all ordered the salad to start, it’s just Romain lettuce, a couple cherry tomatoes, a couple cucumber slices and croutons, the ranch was good, and they offer Dorothy Lynch. I had the baked potato, which I just ordered with butter and sour cream, it definitely needed more butter. One person ordered the Mac and cheese, it was not good imo, and the other person ordered fries, I have idea if they were good or not. All the meals came with a roll, which was hard as a rock on the outside, and butter had to be requested as it wasn’t offered. First off i would like say say i love the improvements that have been made to this place. Love the new bar and floor, and they way it is more open. Although the price is a tad inflated, the product is extremely good. These people are bringing steak to another level. Amazing flavor. Once they get all the kinks worked out with presentation and advertisement this place will be top notch! They need to get the phone number updated on Google so they are more accessible to the public for reservations as well.
