They have no "coffee"... No drip, pour over, French press etc. I went here expecting a nice third wave shop with a good bean selection. All they have are espresso drinks and cold brew. The espresso machine was making constant noise as well which was annoying. I got an Americano which was decent. Kind of bummed as I hoped we finally had a good coffee shop around here.
Edit: Dropping this to 1 star after reading the owner’s response, which somehow managed to be condescending, defensive, and dismissive all at once. If that’s how you handle basic customer feedback, it explains a lot.
Alin, if you're going to reply to reviews, at least read them. I never said the coffee tasted burned, I said I was bummed. Misreading, misquoting, then lecturing me over something I didn’t even say is not only unprofessional, it’s embarrassing.
You call yourself a coffee shop, yet offer no brewed coffee... no drip, no pour-over, nothing. Just espresso and cold brew. If you don’t want customers expecting actual coffee, maybe rethink your branding. Blaming people for assuming a “coffee shop” might serve coffee is absurd.
And let’s not pretend this is an isolated misunderstanding. Your responses to other reviews show the same arrogant tone any time someone doesn’t praise you. If your goal is to alienate potential regulars and double down on a narrow vision, you’re nailing it.
Hope the espresso crowd works out for you. Everyone else? Don’t bother... unless you enjoy attitude with...
Read moreI've been to Afuga in Hutto a handful of times now and feel like I can leave an honest review. Atmosphere, branding, aesthetic, friendliness are all on point. Service is phenomenal.
I have a few critiques that about drive me insane everywhere I go and Afuga is no exception. I always order the same thing.
Consistency: One barista makes my drink watered down (even though I add shots). You should be able to taste 4 shots of espresso in a 12 oz cup. The only barista that has been able to NAIL my drink is the gentleman with long red hair. Unfortunately I've only run into him once.
Price: This again has been inconsistent from barista to barista. The same drink has cost $6.00, $6.20, and $8.50 various visits. With a $1 tip and tax, my 4 shot drink comes to north of $10 with the most expensive barista. Add a slice of bread for $6 and you're closing in on $20 for pan y cafe. Insane.
For a premium price, I expect a consistent and premium result. Presentation is wonderful, but none of that matters if the product itself is lackluster or inconsistent.
I hesitate to give a 4-star review. I'd give 3.5 if I could. Minus one for consistency, and minus...
Read moreWent in to get an Americano, but they had already closed the espresso bar since it was getting near closing time. Ended up getting cold brew instead, but it was very disappointing. It was way too strong even when all the ice had been melted. (I drink espresso regularly, so I'm not against strong coffees) It's probably better to dilute 2:1 with water or even 1:1. It tasted like the concentrated cold brews sold at groceries. Aroma and taste itself (if diluted) was good, but didn't notice anything special. Maybe it was just a bad batch, but for being the first time, I was a little shocked because I expected better based on all the positive reviews. I was also shocked by the price. The smallest cold brew was over $5.. It's just pulled from tap, so I don't know how...
