Fortune House — Restaurant in Hutto

This is a fast food restaurant. I have basically nothing good to say about the food, the service and the environment. I don't understand all the 4 and 5 star reviews. We ordered chicken lomein and chicken pad thai. FOOD: Both dishes were incredibly bland. Noodles in the pad thai were still hard. It was ready in 5 to 7 minutes after placing the order. To me it raised the questions of the cooking and preparation methods back in the kitchen. I gave food 2 stars because it wasn't inedible and it was a large portion. But on the flip side, we ate only 1/2 of our dishes and did not want the leftovers.

SERVICE: You order and pay at a kiosk. You take your own number and type it in. You go pick up your tray of food. It comes on styrofoam and plastic. There is no customer interfacing with the staff. There is no "server". There is a sign that says "Sorry, no refunds. All sales are final." RED FLAG!!!! Unfortunately it's not at the order counter, it's in the dining area, so you don't see it until after you've ordered and paid.

ATMOSPHERE: It was clean. I'll give them that. But... The decor is incredibly hodge-podge. It's not welcoming or interesting at all. I counted 9 different styles of wood paneling installed on the walls. They clashed with each other and the floor and the tables. It made no sense. You walk in to a ridiculously large menu and 2 kiosks.

*CON: The Spicy dish indicator is noted on the wall menu but not on the kiosk screens.

• CON: The kiosk screens are organized completely different than the way their menu is laid out, which makes it harder to find your dish to order it.
• PRO: You CAN make special request notes on your order. I asked for a customization to my pad thai, and it was prepared...

clean, spacious restaurant with plenty of seating. I don't know if it's because I eat at weird times or not, but I don't usually see very many people eating at the restaurant.

staff are always quick n' friendly.

i order pretty frequently from here-- is it the best Viet/Chinese food in the Hutto area? nah, but it does hit the spot when i need something ASAP. (still wouldn't recommend the pho, but I'm picky...maybe it's better eating at the restaurant). the food is always packed well, and I'm happy with the collection of soy sauce packets I've accumulated.

The fried rice portions are MASSIVE. For the people in the reviews complaining about the protein ratios, just order extra protein with it-- I find that improves the ratio. The price for fried rice seems kind of steep, but one to-go portion is like 3 meals for me, so it's nice.

the wonton egg noodle soup is alright. The broth is light and clear, and I'm glad they oil up the egg noodles so it doesn't stick into a big egg dough ball during transit. not my favorite wontons since it's very pork-forward and doesn't have the "bouncy" texture I think wontons should have, but it gets the craving. it was also an interesting choice to pack pho dressings with it (bean sprout x basil x cilantro x hoison x sriracha), but it's no biggie. portion was good for 1.5 meals for me.

The milk teas here are on the sweet side, even after adjustments. The tea flavors are also on the weaker side. I'm not a huge fan of that,...

Horrible...I placed online order for pick up I got confirmation that order would be ready in 25 minutes. Dri ing from Pflugerville, so i have about 15 -20 minute drive. Arrived at restaurant abd order not ready abd there are about 15 uber eats drivers waiting fir their orders. I'm waitibg about 15 minutes now for food and a couple arrive for dine in. They place order at counter and sit down. Another 5 minutes go by abd family of 4 arrive for dine in. They place order and sit down. I wait anither 10 minutes and ask when my order will be ready, girl says she will go check and does not come back. Another 10 minutes go by and couple who arrived after me for dine in get their food. Okay! How does that happen to ad insult to injury, the family of 4 gets their food. Im fed up now, have been waiting over 45 minutes now apart from drive time to pick up so i tell them to cancel order abd refund me abd ill go to Pabda Express. Food good but not enough to wait over 50 minutes at restayrant for order. Those who use uber ir any other delivery platform, please know its not the uber drivers fault you waited 2 hours for your food. Im going to give Wens Cafe right next door a try. They lost my business for basically wasting my time when the online order platform should be giving accurate pick up times,. This is not first time thus has happened, as they say in baseball, 3...
