Taco Palenque Hutto — Restaurant in Hutto

It is with a sad heart that I have to update my review. The service here has really fallen off. If you do eat here I highly recommend that that you go inside and verify you received your full order before eating. I've had multiple incidents of missing/wrong food items with orders. At first I chalked this up growing pains, they are a new location, but now it seems to be a service issue. The phone number goes unanswered when calling in to report issues and the mail box is full. Also had multiple issues were I tried to order something that was clearly on the menu and being told that they don't have that item. Not that they were out of it or that it was not available due to it not being breakfast, that would be entirely reasonable. Just that they don't actually make it even though it is on the menu (not some website back page either, the actual on display menu board). I really wanted to like this place and most of their food is good. Maybe you will have better luck than me. My original review follows: This is a fast food chain with counter service and a drive through. Their food is much better than most fast food places. I recommend taking the time to actually go inside. The staff are friendly and this location is very clean. They have a chip and salsa bar for topping your food or just having a side of chips. Horchata is one of the fountain drink options. While it's not the best horchata I've ever had it is sweet and plentiful. Be sure to give the roasted salsa a try too. I am conflicted about how I feel on this place. I want to like it because it checks a lot of boxes for me. It's clean, the people are friendly, it's close and convenient, and it has a chip and salsa bar. Unfortunately there's a lot of negatives that turn me off about it too. I took them multiple attempts to get my order correct. I didn't modify anything I simply asked for pork al pestor on corn. I received a chicken pastor on flour. When I asked if they could correct the order, they gave me the same chicken but in corn tortillas. They got it right the third time. The food is significantly overpriced relative to the portions you get. When I pay $6 for a taco I expect more than an ounce of meat. I know it was only about an ounce because I used my second taco and was able to fit all of the pork, minus pineapple, into one of the small plastic bowls at the salsa stand. Speaking of the salsa stand. They do provide a nice selection of salsa's, pico, cilantro, limes, onions etc. and there are tortilla chips under a warmer which is nice. I wish they gave you a dish that would hold more than eight or nine chips though. I also had a small charro beans, which equaled five whole spoonfuls using one of those tiny plastic spoons. The staff here are very nice and helpful, but it's frustrating that they keep messing up the same order multiple times. It's almost like this section is cursed. Even the Whataburger next door always gets orders wrong, so definitely check your order before you leave Palenque in Hutton.

They mess it up every time. Last time, they mixed up our burrito with a taco. Today, I ordered a chorizo and bean, a bean and cheese with egg added, and another chorizo and bean. I drove off and when I checked, it was wrong again. I came back through the drive-thru, explained my order was incorrect, and they handed me the same food back! They didn’t even remake it. I think they just added cheese to the taco that was missing it, but the chorizo one was still wrong.

When I finally got it back for the third time, they somewhat got it right, but the chorizo looked terrible—it didn’t even look like chorizo anymore, more like beans were melted into it. It wasn’t anything like what I got last week.

The flavor here is really good, but you have to accept some frustration when coming. You might overpay for something because they messed up your order or get completely incorrect food.
