Sherwood Gourmet Deli — Restaurant in Hybla Valley

Today my mom and I planned on bringing sandwiches to my friend, who’s newborn is in the hospital. I sent my friend the link to pick out sandwiches for her and her husband, and planned on delivering them around dinner time. When we got to Sherwood Gourmet, it was about 3:20, and they had just closed. They modified their hours due to covid. I was so disappointed because my friend and her husband had already picked out their orders, and I didn’t want to have to break the news to them while they are busy in the NICU, where their 6 week old daughter is on a ventilator. A gentleman emerged (the owner I presume), taking out the trash, and we asked if they were open. They had closed, but when I told him my story he went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make the sandwiches for my friends. He made them quickly and with a smile and I cannot say thank you enough for your customer service and care. Thank you so much. That small gesture meant the world to me, and...

Over $60 for 4 small sandwiches. Exorbitant, probably, but we try to support small businesses when possible.

Had to wait nearly 3/4 hour & were asked 3 times what we had ordered. When they ask who you ordered it with the alarm bells really start ringing. Eventually we got the food.

The owner said "he would do us a solid next time". If he'd have been serious he could have thrown back $10 or added a couple of brownies or something. I replied it was highly unlikely there would be a next time.

To insult to injury when we got home we found that the egg & bacon sandwiches were missing, you guessed it, the bacon. So after being told 4 times they still screwed it up.

I usually have a good experience here and the food is really good. But today the customer was not great. I usually order online and know to order 15-20 minutes before I start my lunch break. Today I got there a little after 1pm, I placed my order online at 12:50, I knew I would have to wait a little bit not a problem. The problem is that my order was sitting at the counter after being made for a while. I wasn't sure if it was mine because they were busy, until the person who ordered after me was called to pick up their sandwiches. My sandwich had been sitting counter for at least five minutes after being made, and did not get acknowledged until I went up and had to re confirm what my name was in order to get my lunch and leave.
