We went on opening day and ordered tamales and horchata. The service was fine, though they seemed a bit stressed, which is normal for the first day. The space is nice, but it was empty when we were there and felt very quiet. The horchata was tasty. The tamales had good flavor, but they were a little dry and came lukewarm. There was nothing gluten-free except the tamales, so we werenât able to try anything else. I assume some of the kinks will get worked out as time goes by, but my biggest recommendation for this new business would be to offer in-house ceramic plates and real glasses. It was a big turn-off (not to mention not environmentally friendly) to be served everything in plastic takeout containers despite dining there. I will be back to try coffee next time (thanks for offering dairy free milk options!) and I hope to see a few improvements. I love the idea of a cafĂ© with Mexican heritage and would love to see more Mexican drinks...
Read moreExcellent (if pricy) authentic Mexican food and light fare. Polite and friendly staff. The cuisine feels like a little slice of Mexico, with daily fresh-baked snacks and desserts (empanadas and churros, for example), prepackaged treats, and so on. The downsides: The WiFi is incomprehensibly horrendous. Some day it's functional (but poor) and others it is unusable. About half the tables/chairs aren't comfortable: they're slatted, folded affairs.
As of right now, it's an excellent lunch or snack spot, but not a great cafe. But in theory I imagine the WiFi should be straightforward to fix, and in that case it will immediately shoot up to 4-5...
Read moreI came here at 9am on a Saturday, there were 3 people in the whole place. They have samples sitting out, and a coffee menu. My son got a churro. It was a little stale. My partner got a game and cheese empanada, and liked it. I ordered a hot coffee and a spinach egg sandwich on an English muffin. After 15 minutes and multiple folks coming in and out the sandwich had not come so I asked about it. The two staff looked at each other and said okay 1 minute. 10 minutes later and the sandwich was ready, on a croissant. It was okay. Definitely not worth 25 minutes. It comes with an orange slice and a slice of cantaloupe.
Unfortunately, no oneâs fault, but the my coffee cup was leaking everywhere and they didnât have a key to...
