Lake Shore Cafe — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

This is my second time here. The first time was for dinner. It was ok. Parking wasn't terrible, the atmosphere and staff was friendly enough to justify a return visit. This second visit was TOTALLY different😕. We went for their seemingly popular Sunday brunch. We made arrived at 1:25pm for our 1:30pm RESERVATION. We were told it would be a few minutes. At 1:40pm we asked again, "How much longer?" After speaking with a manager, we were eventually seated at approx. 2:05pm. That wasn't horribly bad, because the place was PACKED. I was told that it wasn't typically that crowed. Our server was friendly enough once we were able to get their attention, but very long wait for water, silverware, ect. The waffles & omlets were very good, but everthing else was mediocre at best. The chicken had absolutely no seasoning what so ever, ribs were tasty and tender, the desserts were TERRIBLE. I didn't care that were store bought, but they were nasty! The apple pie was salty and semi frozen. Overall, I really wanted to like this place. Kareem, one of the managers was very friendly (same as he was on our first visit), the view of the lake is nice, but it didn't make up for the bad...

Hair on tub, clean other than that, breakfast is $9.99. A/c doesn't work, noticed a lady carrying a fan, and she said that she got it from front desk...they told her they turned the a/c off, and to open the windows, which do not open, but about three inches...we asked if they had anymore fans, and they do not. We were told they turned off the ac, and to open windows...they didn't care that we would wake up when the sun shines in. She asked how long we are going to be here...I guess it matters that we are going to be here until Saturday. Asked if we could bare with them for another night, then they could move us to another building tomorrow. They do not keep their stories straight between each other. They said they could move us tonight, after 930pm. Would have been nice to know...I would be willing to pay more for ac...why have a thermostat it the room if we don't control it...not looking forward to the allergy issues that I will have in the am, with the windows being open...oh, and cable has a lot of static. I feel bad for the others that have to deal with this as well. This would've gotten a much better review, if not...

My family was not impressed by service because they charged her 11 year old grandchildren adult price because they didn't believe that they were that age because of how tall they were, also the website doesn't show paid parking and she paid for regular parking and they didn't tell them that the drinks weren't refills and continued bringing drinks charging for every glass of soda for each person.(uniformative lacking information) and the cornbread was dry, cabbage spicy, chicken dry no salt, all sweets was hard (cakes, pies etc) the total for the LITTLE! They ate was approximately $235 👀🤔🤨 and again they didn't eat much!!! Will not be taking my party of 6 here unless some things change again thank you for your service as i am a traveling reviewer. That party of 6 booked for the 26th at your establishment was my family. This look bad for business when an out of towner upon arrival receives bad reviews on a place that was going to be used for a suprise get together....
