Dat Donut — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

I tried two yeast doughnuts (strawberry glazed and caramel glazed) and the double chocolate buttermilk old fashioned. The buttermilk old fashioned was slightly above average. It was definitely better than firecakes, but not as thick or moist as Stan’s, so depending on your preferences for texture, you might love this fluffier although slightly drier doughnut. The yeast doughnuts here are amazing. I’d rank them below panaderia Nuevo Leon’s, but above every other donut shop in the city, so second in the city by my lights. These doughnuts are yeasty and the right combination of moist, fluffy, sweet, and chewy, realizing all of these qualities with an almost perfect balance! My favorite, esp if you’re going for something sweet, was the strawberry glazed. The glaze does give the whole doughnut an extra punch of sweetness so beware. I also liked the caramel glazed, esp if you are going for something not as robustly sweet. The glaze for this one was delightfully subtle, since you really had to concentrate and reflect on what you are eating and notice, maybe ‘feel’, for the flavor, something only subtlety of flavor demands you to do. Wanted to give this place a try since it seemed to be one of the most popular ones for donuts in the area. We got a half dozen donuts (chocolate glazed, strawberry glazed and blueberry) 2 of each. My husband went at a decent time in the morning, around 10ish. Still no chocolate glazed donuts 😒 so I got chocolate iced instead.

The donuts were really really good. They tasted fresh and flavorful. But, the 1st thing I noticed when he got back was that they stuffed these 6 donuts into a bag, instead of putting them in a box 🫤 oooooooookay….. b/c they were packed like this, some of them got messed up in travel.

The croissants they used for the breakfast sandwich tasted like fries! And after reading a few of the other reviews that mention their donuts tasted like bbq, it’s apparent that they use the SAME GREASE to fry the donuts as they do the bbq food and fries…. Disgusting 🤮

I’m glad my donuts didn’t taste like bbq but after that experience, I will not be returning. Fresh ingredients at food establishments is key & they majorly missed the mark 🤷🏽‍♀️

donuts good service trash i love going here for the donuts but the service sucks and turned me away i was going to buy a few donuts plus a few drinks so i was spending money in there plus i go whenever i am in the area or have a taste for the strawberry donut specifically i buy their special donuts and take other people with me there and they spend money there too the customer service is always negative the young women always seem to have the worst attitudes i can tell they don’t want to be there and they are hired by family with no fear of being fired. i left today because of the cashiers attitude with me while i was ordering she even went along to the next person while i was ordering so i just left i refused to exchange with such energies it will break my heart but i most likely won’t be back this is not the first time and im sure it won’t be the last time i am displeased with their customer service and its different employees not just...
